I decided to sum up all of my findings here in order to be more clear for everyone what is actually going on with the latest batch of S89 boxes.
So first of all the problem itself:
-> 105k4 Firmware is not showing picture/image when using XBMC 13.1 official stable release.( watch the vid on the previous link)
Why not use Oman's XBMC some might ask ??? Because Oman's XBMC is not working with Simple Tv PVR Add-On, and for those of us that have a Live Tv setup this is important !!!
Even if i did not have to use stable, is not nice for an android TV box not to support the Official XBMC release dont you think ? Especially when in its previous firmware it was supporting it just fine !!! Its not logical the newest firmware to be breaking things instead of fixing them !!!
As a result of the first issue we need to go back to 104k4 which is already proven to play streams from XBMC stable 13.1.
-> Guess what?? The latest batch of S89 boxes, and this is confirmed by Eric from Geekbuying, has had a hardware change. This change is 99% the cause of not being able to boot 104k4 after flashing the box with that !!!
So, only way to get Official XBMC working fine is by going further back to 102k4 firmware !!! Which is not a solution if you ask me,as that firmware is way outdated.
What needs to be done???
In my opinion a 106k4 firmware, that will solve:
a)Oman's XBMC to be compatible with SimpleTv Pvr Add On
b)Will be compatible with stable 13.1 XBMC
and at the same time be able to reach 104k4 FPS on HD and FullHD content playback. Because it has been tested thoroughly by myself and 104k4 manages the most reliable and consistent 60FPS on FullHD content of all the other official Firmwares available.
Eric is looking at the issue with the factory and i sure hope he will bring us good news very soon ...
