Just flashed M8 with Finless 1.7 now no display only red led, Help!!

Hi, I'm a real newbie with my first android tv box (CSM8 - didn't read the posts first), wasn't all that happy with it's responsiveness compared to mates M8 (square) so after reading post about Finless 1.7 great firmware I decided to go ahead and upgrade.
Carried out install instructions as per README and put the 2 files on micro SD card, plugged that into box, pushed in reset with pin and off she went (little green android man with churning box in his guts), status line reached the end then screen blanked and I was expecting a reboot but nothing happened. only red led on i.e. won't come out of standby. Even tried to repeat flash operation but no good! Is it bricked??
    Any ideas greatly appreciated anyone!

Probably because the CSM8 is incompatible with firmware for M8 (without wifi antenna):

      M8

      CSM8

Sorry to hear, try sending back.

Yep and I have never bricked my M8 so don't know how to unbrick yet. Since you cannot use the AML flash tool, it must be via special SDcard.

ENY or Acemax should explain how to unbrick!

But this is a CSM8 so maybe flash tool can be used?
Maybe the same procedure for the round box will work.
For the round box you need a special file on SDcard and the AML flash tool.

Bottom line this is why you should never flash any ROM unless you are 100% sure what device you have and if it is compatible.

i had the same problem and i solved it

The sequence of what to do if your machine bricks is as follows.

Create the SD card using the bootcardmaker.exe util which is contained in the amlogic_tools.rar which can be downloaded from the tronsmart.eu website.

When creating your bootable sd card using bootcardmaker.exe and the u-boot.bin that is 352Kb in sixe (thanks Bob), once it's formatted copy that file and the usb刷机工具说明.wps file onto the sdcard.

Now you need to open up your vega (only do this if you are not getting any joy with any other method, mine was unresponsive to anything), and short out the 2 pins in the link below.

                https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9B...it?usp=sharing

I couldn't get mine out of the base and to be honest you don't really need to, I shorted them with a small screwdriver.

                now...

                1) Unplug and plug back in power. No LED should be on. (also have your SD card inserted)
                2) Short the pins (5&6)and hold them shorted.
                3) Press the reset button and hold it.
                4) Power on the box using the power button.
                5) Continue to hold reset and pins shorted until Windows bongs,

You can now flash your rom using the USB flashing tool and .img file of your choice, I used the original firmware.

Do a normal attempt at flashing the first time, it will fail at 3% or something like that, next repeat above and do a full erase which should get you to about 5%, You will need to restart the program each time.
The next time you do the flash untick the box that says "Erase bootloader" it will then flash further to about 6%, this is the sweet spot because at this point you no longer need to short out the pins, you can remove the SD card and you can restart and flash as normal and it works.

                I hope this helps someone.

ps: the box use the same firmware as the "transmart vega s89" but the IR remote doesn't work.
