M8 update help

1st like 2 introduce myself names Dan, nice 2 meet everyone mods and members 2nd like 2 say im glad I found this forum due 2 every other forum members are aholes and never wana help no1 jus mock newbies tryn 2 learn from what I have read and seen members here are great so far which I hope it stays this way, as 4 mods and Finless im glad u never gave up on M8 cus alot of M8 users would b screwd without ur help
Now 4 the fun part, I hav square M8 and want 2 update 2 gotham 13.1 the proper way, question is M8 is already rooted but if I install Finless 1.7 will it brick M8 box if not great!!! 2nd question is 2 properly update firmware, finless 1.7 and oman xbmc so I can hav 1080p, google play paid apps and everything else working, which files do I install in proper order also do I delete xbmc in my apps 1st b4 I setup firmware and roms? Lastly where is oman xbmc file located? Thank u

Welcome to the forum

If you'd like to update to the xbmc 13.1 simply uninstall the current xbmc application ,go to this page:

Download the xbmc.apk ,copy that to the usb stick, open M8 File explorer and click on the application from the usb stick thats it ....

you don't have to install any FW...

Thank u TMX, I jus read on acemax site that if I didnt buy from him that software will harm my unit, idk if this is true or not but u no 4 sure this wont harm my M8? Also can I d/l file on sd card if I dont have usb stick???

Daniel i have this m8 box and have used finless 1.7 rom and oman's xbmc,just follow install instructions in forum and you will be fine.in the meantime i'm looking forward to Finless Bob's 1.8 version he is working on.I too am a newbie but i have learned a lot by just browsing and reading the forum topics.I only use sd cards when flashing roms and installing apks.

to see all options set xbmc menu level in system settings to: advanced
if no picture but audio: DISABLE ALL hardware acceleration off except Libstagefright

yep you can use an sdcard

to uninstall the old XBMC apk

go to Settings (from android launcher not in xbmc) -- Other--More Settings--Apps--XBMC--and then Clear Cache--Clean data--Uninstall...
