    Rikomagic MK802IIIS8G(B) Android 4.1 rom

    Hi,

I got the Rikomagic MK802IIIS8G(B) yesterday (this is the version with new wifi). It turns out to be a disappointment, I just want to use XBMC and Netflix, XBMC is no problem, Netflix doesn't work at all with the firmware out of the box (Android 4.2.2 with DRM issues).
Then i tried several other custom roms (Neomodes, Snakes) but it turns out they are made for a different hardware revision (with another wifi chip) so there the Wifi doesn't work.

Then I tried to download the official 4.1 rom for this stick from Rikomagic, but their link is broken.

Who can recommend firmware to me for this stick, where all hardware works and Netflix works fine (so i guess a 4.1 firmware)?

    Many thanks@

I think you can run the Kit Kat 4.4.2 firmware from here: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...Fully-Working)

You should have the same chipset as the iMito mx1/2 so give that one a shot.

Even if you end up with the 4.2 firmware, an overclocked kernel will run video playback just fine. There's no need to be stuck with an ancient 4.1 kernel.

Rikomagic has 4.2 software on their site in case that 4.4.2 doesn't work out.

Thanks Shomari, I installed the 4.4.2 firmware, it wanted to format an external SD card wich is not there, but installation continued and it booted into 4.4.2.

But then I hit a wall, there is a grey screen with a green Android logo in the left upper corner, that keeps popping up. No info and no options. The screen pops up, disappears after a second and then pops up again. Any tips?

I was able to pull the settings menu in the 4.4.2. firmware. I tried to enable wifi but it wouldn't turn on, meaning the wifi chip is not supported. So this firmware is a no-go

Do you or anyone else have another firmware to suggest to try?

Sorry about that. Try this one, after that I'm all out of options for that stick https://mega.co.nz/#!UhdVwS6Y!amnxDZ...JreOW1iZsKTl5Y

I recommended the other 4.4.2 ROM because users had reported it works with your stick. I guess you hava different bin so maybe the other ROM linked here will work. Good luck

Thanks for your effort Shomari. The 2nd firmware booted well, but no wifi.

Is it possible to load another wifi driver into this firmware?

...nope the wifi support is built into the kernel
