Copying remote.conf from one box to another (Same type)

I have a batch of boxes which i thought were Mx2's and flashed them however the firmware was not compatible. I was able to find a firmware that was compatible except the remote.

I was wondering if I can extract a working remote.conf from a working one and copy it to the ones that does not work?

I have managed to get a copy of both remote.conf using x-plore file manager. But when i try to copy over from a usb drive it does not let me over write. Write permission denied, is it possible to change this both boxes are rooted?

I don't have much experience with TV Boxes, but usually on Android you need to mount /system partition as read-write. You can do it through special app (like this), ADB or terminal emulator. You need to enter:

adb shell
su -
mount -o remount,rw /system

And of course need to be rooted. Also not every file manager allows you to write to /system. Try Total Commander. Also be sure to write file ownership and user/group permissions of original file, because they may be lost after overwriting.

If your rooted ES File explorer will write to system.
In the menu of ES click on root explorer and turn it on. Then click it again and you will get a pop-up. Select mounting and enable system to be RW.

After you copy the file make sure to set the permissions the same as the original or it wont work.

I am now thinking that if I flash gbox 1.16 and modify the remote.conf in android and then flash MX LINUX over it will work too. Well I hope so as that was thing not working. I wish i had the skill to modify the gbox rom for future use. If only there was an app to modify it and back it up. I don't think there is a working CWM for these boxes.

Well went in and changed the remote.conf on the gbox fw and the remote works perfectly and it appears mx linux too so far.

Going to give it a proper test drive shortly and see if the vid and audio etc are OK but so far so good. The only thing not working is led on front is off when on and on blue when off. it appears to go into standby for a bit and boot up mega quick when the power button is pressed.

Would be good if the LED's worked as they should but the standby thing is a bonus. I wonder where the system file for that is located and if that could be ammended.
