I am not a big fan of Android on my TV, but I like all the apps that are available, so I like to use XBMC as my launcher. Check out 'XBMC Launcher' that does a great job of running your XBMC as your launcher. You can always execute your other apps from the 'Programs' XBMC menu.

I have nova launcher, and its great for my phone, but I find it just doesn't doesn't work well enough with a remote.

i use navi-x with xbmc to watch a lot of movies .and tuneln radio for internet radio .i play all my movies with xbmc .sometimes with mx player .and hola with pandora and netflix to watch us netflix instaid of the dutch netflix
