Minix X7 wil unfortunately not replace my WD TV
I have my Minix X7 for several weeks now and I've tried several custom ROMs to test the video quality, but unfortunately so far I am not all that impressed. I stuck with QuickShot V3.1, because it is an extremely impressive ROM and I really like it the most. I bought the Minix X7 to replace my WD TV Live Streaming (a.k.a. WD TV Live 3rd Gen) and so far the video quality of the WD TV is superior compared to the Minix, which is a bit of a surprise when looking at the hardware differences. My video sources are mainly 720P and with any ROM I have tried using XBMC as video player, I encounter slightly degraded quality and always video judder when the image is panning. Not sure if the WD TV does upscaling, but the image it puts out actually looks 1080P and absolutely no video judder. Also I find the video/sound is always out-of sync with Minix, which can be easily adjusted, but I rarely have that problem with WD TV. The only ROM I haven't tried yet is the MINIX stock, because I flashed it right away with QS3.1, then tried a few other ROMs and then came back to QS3.1. Now that Minix also has a KitKat ROM (http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...KITKAT-ROM-001) I may give that a try. Anyway, I do love the Minix for the fact that you can completely customize it to fit your needs and I will absolutely use it for XBMC streaming media. It's just a petty that I can't fully replace the WD TV (yet).Tags: None

Thank you both for your replies. I didn't try wasser, but I did try HardWareGuru, the latter gave me the same problems. Anyway, I haven't sat still in the meantime and because it seemed to me that I was nearly the only one with these problems (I have read a lot of forums) I figured it had to be something with my setup. So instead of fiddling around with the X7 settings, I went to my TV settings instead, which has some display customizations built in like MotionFlow and Cinema1, Cinema2 etc. I was finally able to find the sweet spot and got rid of the judder AND the degraded video quality
For the sound, I noticed that I forgot to enable passthrough in XBMC (oops), as soon as I enabled that, sound/video started playing in perfect sync.
I'm now extremely happy with the X7 and haven't used the WD TV for a few days now

I use wasser on a UT2 Ugoos, works for me.
2 things I'm waiting for are wasser KK for the UT2 and Beyond version of Gotham. I'm very, very patient.FLHT = Harley
HEMI = 2010 Dodge Challenger SRT
Cause I've been asked.

My experience with washerr rom is amazing. My X7 with xbmc have replaced my wd TV but will not replace my kdlinks media player. This player can play avchd video (.mts) without any problem and has the ability to play 3d .iso in real 3d. I know wdtv and x7 can play 3d iso but they are coming out at 2d only.

I am still on stock rom 010, 1080p, dpi240, no overlay and DRM controlled and I use all last XBMC versions without issues. My reasons not to change is caused from Skyonline working flawlessly with this rom/enhancements, AND all the other things simply .... working!
