Minix Neo X8/X8-H Stock BETA 006 in flashable ZIP format

OK folks. Minix is releasing their ROMs as flashable images using the AML flash tool.

Unfortunately Windows 8.1 users have problems getting the drivers installed and the flash tool working.
I don't have Windows 8 so cannot test why the drivers are a problem.

But.... here is the stock ROM in ZIP update format.

This is the Minix X8 BETA 006 - 7/17 ROM just released.


NOTE: THIS WILL ERASE YOUR DEVICE! So backup anything you want to keep!
Minix is not releasing ZIP updates only flash tool updates. The flash tool erases the box!
There is a reason for this.
Major updates it is much better to erase as you don't know what junk is left from previous ROM that can cause problems! As people saw on an update that did not erase, things were not right like a missing stock browser, etc.

Unfortunately the installation of beta006 was not OK. Some errors in recovery about wrong certification/signature (not remember exactly).
Thankfully the device rebooted OK with beta004 (all data erased).

(edit) I had lost the sdcard so I used usb-stick (this was the problem)
After I got a sdcard, everything works OK

What Happened to XBMC App in Beta 7?

Beta 7 is out now.

I installed Beta 7 but no XBMC app was there. Was this an oversight? I may be just me but Beta7 seems to be worse than earlier Betas. The setting for screen size and resolution wont stay fixed, buffer maxes out and I get an error message on XBMC. Frames are skipping, freezing, and then the screen size and/or resolution will change at random. I am starting to think buying the X8-H was a mistake. Maybe Finless Bob can remedy this mess.

betas is betas. Things will break and not work. Stay on stock if you think if you ca not live with issues
