Internet Radio Stations - Mapping to Remote Control or Keyboard Buttons. Any ideas?

I have a TV Box with a IR remote control and would like to "map" my favourite Internet stations to the 1-9 buttons on this remote.
Because it's more than annoying to switch on the TV every time, only for changing the radio station..
I know, it can probably be done somehow from XBMC.
But is there no simpler solution, than running XBMC just for webradio?
    All ideas welcome.

    Well..
If i click 'music' on my bt keyboard.. it starts meridian.. that auto starts playing the playlist
-using 'next' on the key/remote.. you get the next song
So, if you add the 9 online radio ch... to the playlist.. it might just work

Note.. this behavoir is firmware dependent..it doesnt always work (it seems)

    Goodluck
    -ps
If you find a solution.. then please share

      No progress so far.
I can't believe that there isn't any app which provides this elementary functionality, even with a keyboard.
I tried this Meridian player and apart from it's slowness, the "back" and "forward" keys on my remote are not supported.

I've got my Android box from my ISP with a pre-installed IPTV App.
This app works 100% with the remote, as one would expect it from a regular TV-remote.
So it is possible, but has to be "hardwired" into the app?

But ok, it works "somehow" with XBMC when editing some .xml files.
      Better than nothing...
