MK808B is it possible 1080P O/C Kernel no heatsink

Hello Iam drawing on the experience of you guys. What is the current state of 1080P playback with latest Rom's kernels without resorting to the extra expense of heatsinks. Will a CPU o/c kernel work, note Iam running Beyond XBMC 3.4
    Ed.

Try this overclocked 1080p kernel for the MK808B: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B3Ti...UDg/edit?pli=1

You don't need heatsinks; most users don't do hardware mods. I haven't, and mine run fine, although I use 720p kernels.

Also, I'd recommend SPMC (XBMC fork) for video. It's authored by Koying, the developer behind the actual code and RK specific enhancements used in Beyond XBMC. Updated version is here: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...TS-Passthrough

I think I am using a 720p version of your overclocked 808b/409j kernel. Great stuff. We really need a simple webpage with all your kernel versions. They are hard to keep track of.

It was really a haphazard process that happened organically as users made requests. I wish it were more organized.

The one linked above is an overclocked 409j patched from 720p to 1080p by prahjister.

Thank you Shomari I will try the kernel. After the install do I need to tweak anything?

Tweaking is optional, but not necessary.

              Thanks again Shomari

...you're going to want to use a 720p kernel I guess? (If so, don't use the kernel linked above, it's 1080p)

Yes, you can just flash the kernel with rk tools or similar.

Hi Shomari set-up your kernel with finless 2.1 flawless 1080P playback using beyond XBMC for about ten minutes then video freezes.

Which kernel? The one above? That's a 1080p kernel; and I'd recommend SPMC which is mentioned a few posts up. Updated with new fixes and much better than Beyond XBMC

Thanks I will try SPMC my only reservation is all my video addons are backed up in Beyond, meaning I will have to start from scratch p.s I am using the linked 1080P o/c kernel

Frodo? It's up to Gotham now 13.2.1 and includes the fixes that will be included in Helium (14.x) release..
