EM8 Nightmare

Hi every one im chris and new to the forum and joined in search of help and advice.

I am new to android tv and got my self a mx dual core great box then thort i will get a quad core as there highly talked about and i first got my self the beelink m8 great unit but the HDMI connection broke after 2 days so i sent it back and thort i would go with the EM8 unit.

The unit was pre installed soon after i turned it on i noticed the picture would vanish and come back so i wiped it (factory reset) and saw it had no xbmc so went got Gotham 13.1 to find i had no picture at all.

Since then i have tried different Firmware down loads but every one i tried i still get problems when i vue HD content it buffers so badly that you get say 2 seconds before it stops.

Any advice would be greatly welcome i saw the thread by stane1983 and that looks good by the feed back im reading.


I have installed and wiped this unit so many times trying different firmware im almost ready to throw up the white flag.

Hi guys and thank you for the replies i have tried that firmware also and had the same problems streaming HD with it also 1 to seconds and it stops.

I can get XBMC to work with a few of the latest firmware but HD streaming wont work yet the dual core mx box plays them smoothly.

Try installing Oman XBMC this might fix your issue your having also just to be on the safe side open up unit to make sure u have genuine M8 cus sum1 I know got a clone which he had problems from day 1...

hi Danielv561 i tried that one yesterday and it was the best so far but soon as i went into gotv and tried to watch any of the shows in HD it would stop after 1 or 2 seconds and some most hd movies would do the same so i un plugged the M8 plugged in the mx dual core and all worked well no buffering at all.

The mx is running Linux tho.

I am a novice new to this mate and would not tell the difference from a clone to the real deal sad to say i did look at the factory specs of the unit and its running all the latest firmware it just didn't have xbmc installed from factory.

Thinking to try the Linux version from stane i contacted a guy in the uk who offers firmware he basically told me to sit back and let new firmware get developed is it me or is this a massive let down to many or am i just having this dramas.

The beelink m8 that came with factory installed xbmc ran great no buffering on any content great picture and sound just the faulty HDMI fitting that was common i was told later that was sorted on there M8B model but stayed clear of it as i thort why sell something you know has a problem.

I'll send u pic of my m8 so u no if u hav genuine unit jus odd I never had no problems on all my units, have ordered over 30 units and all ok, I'm a newbie aswell but il see if I can help solve your problem

Also try mashup or 1channel go on hd movies to see if u have same problem please let me no ur answer asap

hi Danielv561 thanks for the help mate i went into mash up RT news GOTV and a few different APS 720 and SD work fine but 1080 is the problem 1 to 2 seconds and it stops were ever i had problems with the m8 i found the mx ran smoothly.

Even were the m8 worked the mx seamed to work better like RT news it the mx did not buffer were the m8 would stop at times at re start due to buffering.

No such a problem here ... Do not Locate your M8 Too Close to the Wireless Router if thats not help Try Different Firmware or XBMC APK...

Hi TMx the router is in a different room of the house and i ran a cat5 cable to get the best speed possible as i was running WIFI for a while.

I have tried every xbmc and the best i found so far was this one http://blog.geekbuying.com/index.php...uare-s802-box/ .

The problem i am getting is HD play back 1080 but 720 plays but also buffers but not as bad most times its good but if i go to GOTV and try and watch any series there in HD content it wont stream you get 1 to 2 seconds and it stops .

Even watching say RT news thats 720 it also tends to stop at after a few minets and buffers re starts.

If i conect the mx dual core lynix box every thing runs smooth why im so frustrated with the EM8.

I don't know if you already done that but you can apply Zero Cache Patch from Mashup-APPLY FIX-Advanced Setting Tweak-Zero Cache (0) to minimise the buffering ...

one last thing I know this sound silly but sometimes wifi is faster than Lan with this boxes

I tried the WIFI also and it was slower my end i have had migraines from this TMx lol .

Im new i admit it before i came here i searched the net did my research found the latest firmware and saw my unit had it as its only new i looked and found the XBMC downloads people had made and others used with results i even contacted ace and told him of my dramas and even contact a guy in the uk who offers firmware then i joined here.

I felt a little out of place because you guys are switched on you guys know your stuff i don't and feel like a fish out of water and didn't want to be a pain but i will say you guys have been great and made me feel welcome and thank you for that to guys.
