New Firmware on new shipping N101's

Just got my N101!!!! It is supposed to be from the second batch that have fixed some issues but still the charging cable is sticking out!!

Anyway, I the tablet came with 4.0.4:

    Kernel
    3.0.8+
    root@xingyu-desktop #26
SMP PREEMPT Sat Aug 4 04:50:06 EDT 2012

    Build number
    rk30_ics_v2.23.00
    rk30sdk-eng 4.0.4 IMM76D eng.root 2012719.211420test-keys

Do you want me to do anything with my current software? Can i save it somehow, is there a guide? I am thinking of trying bob's ROM!!!

Came with 65% battery, screen seems pretty good, sound is really loud, flash and google play pre-installed etc

Yes, please dump the kernel.. I have the same device, and after flashing 1.5a my backlight no longer works, I assume it has a new backlight unit that needs a that kernel.

I have tried all kernels bob supplies and also tried the original firmware and the old original firmware

No that is the original model that I have.

Apparently Yuandao are releasing a new tab with a few changes like only one speaker and a charger hole improvement so the pin does not stick out. Etc

But apart from that the exact hardware

That's not new is old!! Mine does the same, the new N101+ or whatever you want to call it with the one speaker at the back will have the power lead fixed and pushed on the way in.

Do you know how to dump the kernel/rom? If you want my help, please help me with a step by step guide.

Unfortunately I have no idea how to completely dump the software...

My power lead sticks out like 1mm, I thought it would be several mm there was complaining about but this isnt bad.

I dumped my tablet in linux using RKflash tool.

If you have linux and can follow this, when I get home from work I will tell you the device ID to change in the script for the Yuandao N101. In fact I will just provide my script that worked.
I do not know how to do it in windows at this time.

And YES we all want this ROM so please do not flash anything until we can get a dump of it.

Tuen provider me with a 'test firmware' it is just the files from a dump someone made excluding the kernel.

My backlight is working again, so it is not a kernel issue! Tablet wont boot though, but backlight is working again.

wow, backlight bleeding seems ALOT worse on my tablet now as opposed to out of the box, so that new kernel seems to have fixed it?

Bob, would dch2gav's full dump be able to restore my device to factory defaults 100%?

I will download this but so you know there does not have to be a kernel.img. In fact the stock ROM has kernel inside of boot.img and recovery.img as well as a kernel.img. If there is a kernel inside of boot.img then this is used instead of kernel.img. There really was no need to have kernel.img int he stock ROM since it was inside of boot.img.

Anyway I will download this and see if kernel is in boot.img

Tuen gave a second beta rom, this time the backlight went dark again, and the rom ended up on the loading screen etc but no more

                            I noticed the following:

The only reason the backlight started working again, is because it goes to v4 recovery menu, formats data cache and sdcard, and then tries to boot android. When it does try to boot android the screen goes dark, but I can still see it trying to boot (fails) by shining a flashlight on the screen.

OK boot.img and recovery.img contain the new kernel. I have successfully extracted it.

When I get home from work I will make a fully flashable ROM kit from this.

I dont see how you could have flashed this dump and expexted it to work. Boot and recovery would work but system is a TAR file and not a mountable system image. That is why your are not fully booting up!
It needs to be unpacked and made into a system.img mountable EXT4 image.

Stay tuned.... I will be home in about 2 hours and will m,ake a ROM everyone can use.
