New Firmware on new shipping N101's

    Untarred system and build.prop says this

    rk30sdk-eng 4.0.4 IMM76D eng.root.20120719.211420

    So build date is July 19, 2012
    This is later than the AussiePad ROM. File compare shows the file sizes are the same just a different date.
    Makes me wonder is system is really any different. Only a details file by file compare will tell us that.

    I will save that work for later and try to get a full ROM made now.

      Great investigating, let us know if there is something we (owners of new 'revision' or owners of old one) can do

      You're recreating the original rom as supplied by elijah for backup purposes and also a modded one to be an alternate 1.5a or just a 1.6?

        BINGO!

        I have a working ROM...... I will make a kit ASAP for you all to have.
        It will be what I consider a "stock" ROM from this dump.

        Kernel will remain in boot.img and recovery.img and I will supply a kernel.img as well.
        Not that it amtters with kernel in boot.img but just so we have it.

        Give me about 30 minutes to have it up.

          Any mods, changes, trademarks, logo's, changed boot animations etc in this 'stock new dump'?

          First thing to test I suppose is SD card corruption? Let me know what I can do to help with that for example. (might be going to bed now though)

            It will be 100% untouched. No changes period. Unrooted, etc. SHould be exactly what came on the tablet.

            Thats what a stock ROM is

            As long as it was UNTOUCHED by the person that dumped it!

                OK so it's not going to be totally stock. I just looked and of course to get the dump it had to be rooted!

                I see superuser.apk is in this ROM and a SU binary in Xbin.

                Hard to say what else got installed when it was rooted for dumping.

                Had this been dumped using linux, we would have a untouched ROM.

                  True that, wish I hadnt ran to flash your rom straight away, the thing is, I simply never expected my tablet to have anything new, and figured them chinese sellers were lying about there being a new revision.

                    Interesting. Even though it is rooted when I try to run an APP that requests SU privs, it gets denied every time. Tried playing with superuser.apk settings but still no go. So it's rooted but not really rooted!

                    Do you guys want me to remove SU and Superuser.apk so it is stock?

                      Feel free to 'stock it up' as much as you possibly know how, a nice 'original' base just in case.

                      And after that Im guessing 1.6 or system/kernel comparison?

                        Well for sure I will make a Finless ROM out of it
                        Lots to test and do now. I sure hope the SDcard corruption thing is fixed!

                        Not sure what I am going to call it Maybe 1.6 if it fixes stuff! Or maybe 1.5C or something.
                        Ideas?

                          I'm back,

                          I was trying to get my win7 pc to see my N101 but no luck!! Installed PdaNet from website http://junefabrics.com/android/download.php, mini usb in the tablet, usb to the pc, ding dong sound on pc like when inserted a usb, got usb debugging and allow mock locations ticked, tried two different cables, 2 different usb ports and restarted pc several times...............

                          I was told that i need root access to be able to dump rom so I installed Root Explorer, i believe i can now see the root of N101 but what now???

                            Your way behind. We have a stock ROM. Someone dumped it over on Vondroid.com. I got the dump and have made a good working ROM.
                            It's uploading now.
