Seriously my better half buys it for my birthday it gets shipped from china and gets 20 extra for duty.
Not to mention it shows up late.

Think its still running but the video output just crapped out.

i wonder if the hdmi problems can start any time or if after having used it say for a month means it wont happen or is lesssx probable. i have the box attached to my living room tv and i dont move it at all, i just want to ask what are the chances to have it and how do i know i may have it (if its related to a specific series of this boxes)

Yesterday i had the box on and switched to tv mode then got back to hdmi and i got blue screen like when it loses signal, in fact the tv shoed no signal, i unplugged the hdmi cable, pluged in again and nothing so i tried force rebooting the device with the power button, it rebooted but hdmi signal didnt come right away as it use to, i moved the tv a bit and then the signal came back, so i got concerned about that, no idea if it could have been firmware related or if it was the hardware of the box.

btw i own a tronsmart vega s89 elite, purched to you geekbuying...

depending o your answer i may have to sell it, im in south america so i think it will cost more if it gets broken and the wait until you fix it will be longer too.

Sorry, but I don't really understand what you have done...
(because of: 1.) "switched to tv mode" does it mean A/V? 2.) "i moved the tv a bit and then the signal came back" can also mean that there is something wrong with the HDMI plug/port at TV side)
But if you wiggle a little bit at the HDMI plug at the cable (at the box side) and there goes nothing wrong with the signal, I don't thing you have to worry about it...

i meant i switched the mode in my tv to watch cable tv , then after a while of have watched cable tv i switched back to hdmi ( my tv only has 1 hdmi port) to use the android box and it was there that the blue screen with no signal came up.

illl try re-plugging the hdmi cable in the back of the box and see how that goes.
i dont think it was my tv hdmi port , maybe it was a coincidence and the signal from the box came back by itself exactly when i moved my tv a bit to reach the box (as the box is located behind my tv)

i also have a chromebox and 2 tv sticks that i have used previously in the same tv and never had that problem, signal never failed, it has been very reliable.
my box is static i dont move it and i also use amazon basics hdmi cables only, so im not using the hdmi cable that came in the box of the vega s89.

ill report back for sure if i notice something weird with the box's hdmi port

Apparently from what i understand this is the first major issue with these boxes.

There have been three revisions already in a effort to improve hdmi stability among other changes.

In all likelihood they had a bad run or a bad component batch.
Of course mine was a 2.1 v i believe before the hdmi improvements which may have already fixed the issue.

right now we have three MP version pcb(V2.0/v2.1/v2.2),here is change log: (from oman)
v2.1 based v2.0:
1.Change the OTG connector;
2.Modify USB connector for more stability;
3.Improve USB HUB

v2.2 based v2.1:
1.Modify HDMI connector for stability;
2.Improve HDMI layout for better signal;

Veronica In your case it sounds more like a bad conection of cable but its possiable a failure may happen so i check the cable to rule it out.

Since you had other devices on it without issue and the box isn't moved around i say you likely got the beginnings of my issue or myabe just hdmi instablty.

Mine hdmi died mid video with no warning but yours may be taking a longer route.
Upside is the warrenty is for a year and geekbuying is very good at making things right i think.

thanks, how can i check which version version i have?. it is weird because the box has been ON and plugged in to my tv ALL THE TIME FOR 2 WEEKS OR MORE and before that i had it plugged in my room's tv via HDMI for few weeks too and never failed. I always leave the box ON and i only use amazon basics hdmi cables.

btw im running finless 1.8 rom

The sure fire way is that's its written on the motherboard in it.
There are three screws under the plastic feet.


It seems one must remove plastic feet which iam guessing are merely stuck on and remove the three screws.
Then lift the top up being careful not to break the led wire and have a look.

Mine worked perfectly for three days and was in standby mode when not being used then suddenly the hdmi quit.

It still responds to the remote and with headphones in the av jack i can hear the normal sounds so iam guessing the hdmi is its only failure.
Sadly that one failure makes it useless

Iam guessing you probably have a 2.1 v like me and at least part of the hdmi problem.

Can't believe they asked to do a factory restore and flash finless 1.8.

Just how does that work when there no hdmi signal to do it
