    For CWM backups what I have been doing is backing up to internal SDcard from the OS using onandroid. Then when done copying the backup to external sdcard in Windows. IT's a SLOW process

    If you have my 1.5a system.img loaded then you have onandroid. Download from the market Terminal Emulator. Run it. At the prompt in terminal type su.
    then type onandroid.

    It will do a full CWM backup to internal sdcard from the OS. Totally cool!
    Then copy that backup to external sdcard. Now you can do a boot level CWM restore from sdcard (external).

    As for dual partitions etc... YES... I have a work around for this but it requires a major change to vold.fstab to tell Android to mount it as ext4 instead of FAT32. Not sure people will be able to deal with this major a change since Windows cannot read EXT4 without 3rd party software. I just do not want to make this major of a change to a ROM unless people really want it.

        When you copy the internal backup to external sd card, doesnt it get corrupted? I assume you have to put the internal backup on your computer through micro usb, and whenever you want to restore it you grab a fresh non corrupted FAT32 SD, copy the files over, and then read them from within CWM as they wont be corrupted by reads within the device only by writes?

        And in any other occasion just use the 32GB Micro SD with NTFS for normal use.

        Any bad consequences for using NTFS on the card on this device? Slowdowns? Battery drain?

          About SD Card Corruption - if you make onandroid backup from android itself, and immediately check MD5 of that backup - MD5 always correct. But after unmounting sdcard (by removing it or by connecting to PC via USB) - that backup becomes corrupt along with sdcard. Onandroid script launch sync in the end, so it's not cache of file system, right? Maybe it's hardware issue, and ntfs just better handle this type of corruption?

              Possible improved battery performance with new kernel

              An interesting post on Vondroid indicates that battery drain during sleep may have been fixed. I receive my AussiePad tomorrow with the new firmware and will be interested to see how it goes ! I hope it's OK to post stuff from another forum.

                  Hi there! New to forum and very glad to meet you.

                  Today morning I got the revised version of N101, tried to flash 1.5a but the screen was black. After reading this topic I flashed again 1.5a but with kernel from the stock rom. It worked like a charm

                    OK something this ROM fixes!

                    Previous ROMs if you left wifi to sleep (default settings) when the tablet sleeps, every 5 minutes or so the screen would wake up and report either "no internet connection" or would wake up and report "sdcard was unexpectedly removed"

                    This ROM is not doing that now. This might explain why some are seeing longer battery life in sleep!

                    Previously the only way to stop this was to not allow wifi to sleep when tablet is in sleep. This seems to be fixed now.

                    HOWEVER... let the tablet sleep for about 10 minutes. When you wake it up you will see these messages. "No internet connection" and quickly a message "SDcard was unexpectedly removed" So this issue has just been hidden by not waking up the screen. I think sleep is unmounting the SDcard for some reason. Maybe to save power. It really should not do this.

                      OK after a complete ROM compare system.img has some changes. Importantly some LIB .so file changes to go with the new kernel. Other things like APK's, etc is no change. Just a different file dates. Oh and the frmaework and services.jar is also modified. Services.jar does some important things.

                      Anyway I am going to ma ke a 1.6 ROM from this. I will still be adding MY fixes:
                      Wifi fix for slow DHCP
                      Adhoc wifi support
                      full gplay
                      Gameloft patch
                      etc.

                      It will be basically 1.5a built on this new ROM.

                        FYI, I tested screen bleed with this new ROM. It is not any different for me.

                        I am not sure what the backlight change is, but it might work for the latest tablets being shipped. For older tablets, it does not effect anythng I can see with the screen. Newer tablets since they connot run the older kernels (no backlight) we will never know what this does!

                        In my opinion this is kind of a problem. It means like the Cube for instance, we have a H model and a W model and forever will the ROMs not be interchangeable. For ROM Dev's like me, that can be a real headache!

                        Last comment, the ONLY thing I notice.... it seems to me the tablet runs hotter than before. Maybe just a perception since here in California we are having a heat wave.

                          Question:
                          Why will you call it version 1.6?

                          A higher number usually indicates a newer (read: better) version. Wouldn't be 1.5b be more appropriate?
                          However, the ROM does seem to have some improvements, right? The possibiliy of longer battery life and the screen doesn't wake up. Am I missing anything else that would rationalize updating from 1.5a to the potential 1.6?

                            Using the stock kernel on 1.5a firmware works pretty fine. However, the device cannot be charged while switched off or switched off while charging. I do not really know if this known issue have been fixed into any previous CWM release or it came back again because of using the stock kernel.

                              I fixed it in 1.5a. It is still broke in the Elijah ROM and I have fixed it yet again for 1.6
