Advice on my new XBMC setup

Ok - Noob to the whole TV Box scene but a reasonably experienced custom ROM user for all of my phones and tablets.

So I just received my Minix X8-H and have installed the XMBCHUB's recommended addons from its Fusion setup.

OK - some of them work OK but loads of them don't. Porbably the majority of them are throwing up script errors or "DEBRID failures" <excuse if that's not quite right you experienced guys willl know what I mean> . So I can get a few movies but nothing remotely as much fun as the YouTube vids showing guys with countless video channels, sports channels and live TV streams at their fingertips.

Now I know that each add-on has configuration options but this is where I am struggling. What I need is now a few guides to really tweaking the bejesus out of 4-5 of the major add-ons 1channel, Navi-X etc to get them properly sorted. Something that takes a noob through what things like DEBRID are, if/why they are important and how I set up accounts and configure them within each add-on.

I have been on google but cannot find anything like this to help me start to piece all of these next steps together. I am happy to read, and read some more to get there but obviously I want to avoid pitfalls, particularly if they involve paid for services, and to avoid the situation where I have to spend lots of time readjusting my setup every time my ISP blocks a proxy or two.

Anyone able to point me in the right direction?

Got it last night. Ended up using the Paypal route but I must say I think the time saved is well worth the $2. All of the video addons I tried last night were working well.

Two things though - all of the PVR add-ons are reporting they cannot connect. Is there something I need to change there? I understand I may need to point them to a valid m3u file listing the livestreams I want to be able to watch. Is that right or would my tinkering to screw things up?

Also - As a middle age man, I find the whole skinning a bit "M'eh - too Sci-fi / Fantasy" for my taste. Its just a matter of personal taste I know but can I safely revert to one of the standard XBMC skins without borking what is obviously quite a complex setup?

If not, can I suggest you look at this for a future update? Vanilla Gotham themes and your detailed configuration of the plugins would be ideal for me.

I know you'll not get fat at $2 a pop but thanks again. I donate to all of the custom ROM developers I use on my phones etc so this level of donation is entirely acceptable to me and I hope my $2 (with a few others) helps encourage you keep developing this.

Like we said this is still in beta - but you get the idea, TIME saver or what
You can so easily make another version of xbmc - if you so wish by installing say Beyond xbmc, it has a different save path for all it's files, so you could have 2 versions running one your way and another the UX way. We actually talk about the PVR and library issues in the FAQ. This team is small but dedicated, as for the skin - change it to any you like, our setup should not affect them.

Is this device specific or will it happily run an an AMlogic 8726-MX g18ref (G-Box MX2) type of deice?

Seems generic. If you read the website, it is a zip file of preconfigured addons which you Use to replace a set of folders and sub folders which xbmc creates when first run.

The same zip file is used for windows and android installs so I can't imagine it could be device specific.

I'm very happy with it anyway!

Sorry for any problems - we are still in beta and are still working out the bugs, you can get it for free - if you look on the site's page where you donated - then you will see a small link in the small print at the end of the page - it can be used to download the same file - really sorry about this. We will fix this ASAP, where not sure what the issue, is, might be with ejunkie, not sure anyway sorry and thanks for the donation.

We just tested this and had no issues, so not sure what the issue is, this is a weird one, we just went through the same check out etc and got a d/l link after the donation screen and 3 emails 1 from ejunkie and 2 from ourselves. We will get some other devs to test it - when they wake up - As you can see Baldrick had no issues and we don't either - so not sure what the cause of this is.

Glad to hear that you have made the site clearer to use - what caught me was the fact that it was impossible to add to the shopping cart via Paypal payment! Via Paypal it was just not possible to get to the download page

One query - As I got the penultimate test release - Will your whole config update itself as each of the individual addons does? Or do I need to periodically go and DL it again to ensure that I have the latest and best version?

Seriously - I got my box and was feeling a bit "M'eh, not that impressed with this XBMC business - Maybe I'll just stick with DL'ing". Installed your config and I'm now saying "Sweet God in heaven, this is chuffin' brilliant!".
