Help PMID702c USB port fell out

First I was having problems with my USB port only getting a charge while in awkward angles, so I popped the back off and re-seated and glued the USB port back, now a day later, the plastic in the port just crumbled out bringing one of the internal wires with it.

Is there any way to replace the port, or even splice into the red and black going into the battery to get a charge? I'm a networking IT guy, so soldering and the basics I can do, am just not sure of what to use or go about charging again safely... as I understand, going through USB allows the Motherboard to regulate power flow and cut off at a full charge so as not to explode the battery, or cause harm.

I could be wrong and that capacity could be in the bricks and USB ports, so that is why I am asking, also if done before, with adding a port, does charger matter or could I just grab one of my normal USB chargers and use certain wires into a different head, like I think I'd prefer a circular plug with a non-complicated easily fixed port and head

Anyways, I dug around, as I usually lurk and check out mods and roms here and I remember something similar being done, but after multiple searches and checking post by post I could not find the post I remember, any help is appreciated, thanks
