XBMC will be called Kodi starting with 14 and early release of the new Kodi can be downloaded.

It's about time. The name change was long overdue as they spelled put well enough in their blog post. -
Yeah didn't mention if Kodi stood for anything.

...hahaha. Yeah and for us longtime users it's going to be a while before I actually start calling it 'Kodi'. I mean I will on the web and stuff but in everyday talk . . .old habits die hard.Comment

They had signed an agreement to change the name, due to pressure from an unknown company (not Microsoft).
