Where I would I insert the "please" in my post to make it grammatically correct? Enlighten me PLEASE!

I am not demanding anything, I am simply asking a question. Since when did people start policing these threads about using the word "please".

Why waste 2 posts for useless stuff?

Mate, you totally took it the wrong way, and I'm sorry for that. I know you didn't mean anything more than just asking, and it's not what I meant. You know devs like Bob do this as a hobby, they have a day job, wife, kids....and they get around for these things mostly late at night, they don't have to, they want to.

I've seen in two other places, when people were waiting for a dev to release some patch/version/whatever and people were asking "when will it be ready" for several times, the devs just said "well, f#$%ck it, I don't have to do this", because these questions put pressure on them and take out all the fun for them (like at work....). That's all, I'm sure Bob will release it I just don't think the pressure is helping, other people asked the same question before you in this thread.

he just released the sdcard flashable version for us, so i think it's only logical to wait a bit and since this is not his job, i doubt he can really give you an exact eta

thank you, now back on topic .
I went ahead and installed beta 8 then I went ahead and didn't install anything but basic apps. after that listened to music, 25min -reboot. Sat awhile, thought I'd do XBMC for a minute, reboot.

Flashed finless1.0 boot IMG On top of beta 8 , gravy.
Cmon m MINIX, I'm rooting for you guys. I know you'll have this fixed in time with stable. You got this devs.!

                  Ugh, I it's getting tiring..

I suppose I could collect some forum links , round up some logcats and drop a line. and maybe a copy n paste job over there if needed. But I'm sure the former will suffice.

Just enjoying my box with xbmc and theming ATM

yeah it's tiring that's for sure, it's like we are working for them, begging for them to fix their bugs, but maybe really all we need more is just a little copy paste to their site and they will roll the ball from there.

That's my hope, that maybe we just exahusted ourselves a bit too much and they don't even know because they don't use this forum and now, a fix will finally come once they see this on their forum.

My X8-H Doesnt Have Problems Like Soft Boot so Explain That?

I keep reading how some owners of the X8-H keep getting random reboots of some form or another. Then you ask Minix to "fix" their buggy ROM. If it is the software causing the problems explain why everyone doesn't have the same reboot issue. My Minix works just fine with all my apps and I am using Beta 8. I watch movies and NEVER even turn my unit off. I just let it stay on XBMC. No problems, no reboots, no flickering, no issues with sound but no video, no over-heating..etc. Works perfectly well.

Perhaps these soft reboots are due to some hardware related issue....maybe on some units the heat sink is not making proper contact to the chip and these units over-heat. Maybe the RAM memory or some other component is bad....may there is a bad solder joint on the HDMI connector etc.

Bottom line....random reboots may or may not be caused by the ROM. Seems like more investigation is required by Minix as to the cause. In fact there could be many units sold that have hardware related issues that would require a recall like with an automobile. Do you think a small company like Minix would admit a design flaw? We do know the design for the blue "on" indicator light was a design flaw on all units. The cause was the black plastic was to thick to allow sufficient light through. Lack of Quality Control my be at fault for the randomly occurring problems (reboots). Statistical analysis of the issues needs to be conducted to help determine if the problems are random or "isolated incidents".

I think there's a setting to hide fc's that is turned on and should be off

Also i couldnt find the developer options after enabling them by several click on build number...

And i saw quit a few system ui fc's in the logcat

I agree,I think there's some quality issues going on. The fact its not affecting all boxes, only some.

                            Start on power on?

                            Happy B-day Bob!

                            I have a quick question,
Does anyone know if it is possible to boot a Minix 8 when you turn te power on?
I am making a kiosk app for it so this feature would be great.

                            Thanks for the awesome roms!

If you take the box apart there is a jumper so it powers up when power is applied. At least there was on the X7. I don't recall if it is there on the X8 when I had it apart but I think there is.

"Pzebacz im, bo nie wiedzą, co czynią"
"Прости им, они не ведают, что творят"
"Perdona loro perché non sanno quello che fanno"
"Vergib ihnen, denn sie wissen nicht, was sie tun"
"Vergeef hen want ze weten niet wat ze doen"
"Pardonne-leur car ils ne savent pas ce qu'ils font"
"Perdónalos porque no saben que lo que hacen"
"Oprosti im, jer ne znaju što čine"
"Forgive them as they know not what they do"

Thanks for your quick answer Bob.
I opened up the box and indeed there was a jumper.
Moving it got the job done.
                                Thanks a lot.
