First you have to find a way to map the apps to external SD (before you begin to think about a USB device; btw: my usb pens also get warm/hot)... I don't know a way at KK to handle mapping to external...

Maybe foldermount works? I haven't tried it yet but I'm also running low... Works great on my note

I may have read his question wrong. But yes, my note is on 4.4.2 using foldermount.

But I've also installed an xposed module called 'HandleExternalStorage' who's in its description says..." enables read and write access to the external SD for all apps"

I'm not even sure if I need this module but I've had it installed for quite some time so I don't want to remove it at the present time

            FolderMount [ROOT]

            hmmm,
"Mount internal SD card folders to external SD folders.
            Support for Android 2.3 - 4.4."
if this works for e.g. '/sdcard/android/obb/' then it can be very helpful, because for e.g. games you will find there the "big bang" sub-folders...

But normally that's the problem with KK:

Re: Mount Usb Hd as Sdcard?

Yeah it's an amazing app. I have some pretty large games being used with it and it works wonders. I have freed up lots of space on internal Sd and games are on my 64gb card now. even though it will still show a mount point in the internal SD, the actual data is on ext SD
