CS918T / Rk 3188T which firmware? How to root it?

I'm new to the forum.

Got a CS918T from ****

CS918T :TV Box, Android 4.4, Rockchip Rk3188T 1.6GHz Quad core, 2GB RAM 8GB ROM, WiFi, Bluetooth ,2Mp Web camera, Microphone, RJ-45 , AV OUT XBMC

Seems to be a good little unit however I have found a few things that I'd like to change.

1. Cannot set a lock screen there is no option

Don't want anyone that has access to the box to have access to my google account.

2. Camera is poor to be expected I guess

3. Google earth does not zoom out using Logitech wireless keyboard with touchpad. Apparently only a scroll mouse will solve this.

I'd like to use it with my tv to receive streamed media and do you tube and possibly Netflix or Usenet / torrents with the files saved to somewhere on my network or an attached Usb drive.

Can anyone suggest what alternative firmware would be suitable for this device?

Any super clear guides on how to root it and or update the firmware?

I'd also be happy if I could get it to boot into XBMC. For that matter does openelec run on this thing?

I have not much experience with android besides mucking round booting android x86 of SD card.
Happy flashing things and have used openwrt with router before but not much more than getting them going.

I see this PCB the first time and it seams to be totally different to the PCB's which are supported by custom roms (and these PCB's also not all are supported by custom roms because of different NAND and Wifi/BT chip sets)...

if you're just looking to Root, there are a couple of 1-click root tools which are compatible with almost all chinese tv boxes...

i used Root genius@ www.shuame.com/en/root

just plug it to your PC via the OTG port, install drivers (if needed) enable USB debugging and click root.

What are the possibilities for different firmware for this box?
