    Pipo P1 RileyROM 1.4 (3288)

Pipo has released yet another update for the P1. This time, it's only for the 3G version (but it will work on the wifi version with increased battery consumption). This ROM is based on Pipo firmware dated 8/14/14. It is version #483.

    1. Download the ROM Kit for your version (wifi or 3g).
    2. Unzip the kit on your desktop, or wherever you downloaded it.
    3. Open the AndroidTool.exe
    4. With your tablet turned on, with USB debugging turned off (in settings), plug in the USB cable. Be sure to always use the USB cable that came with the tablet.
    5. Make sure the USB drivers are installed for the Rockchip device. (see the First Time User's Guide for details, if you are having trouble)
    6. You should see the tablet recognized by "Found One MSC Device" in the bottom of the tool.
    7. Click the "Switch" button to reboot the tablet to flash mode. The screen will turn black.
    8. Click "LowerFormat". It will count to 100% (very quickly).
    9. Click "Run".
    10. When the flash is finished, the tablet will boot into stock recovery and will format your partitions.
    11. First boot will take a little longer than usual...just be patient and watch the boot animation.
    12. Once the tablet boots to the system...you will have a fresh, rooted system to work with.

    This ROM is:

    Rooted
    Debloated
    English as default language
    init.d support added
    Busybox commands added
    Google Play Store fixes added
    Reboot app by Petrus
Your choice of 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12gb user app space (select the parameter file you want to flash) The default is 4gb

Thanks to Geekbuying.com for providing me this and many other Pipo tablets to develop.

Stay tuned for a working version of TWRP recovery. Abdul_pt has been working on this for a couple of weeks, and I'm happy to say I have a working TWRP...but the screens still need to be adjusted for the correct screen resolution.

    Download 3G Version

    Enjoy!!!!

Please.....Don't forget to donate....this helps me continue further ROM development.

    Great news Randy !!

Does it mean we have a chance for a wipe-less ROM once TWRP is released publicly ?
I would love that approach since then I wouldn't need to make backups / restores each time I would want to try a new ROM.

BTW - is the charging fixed in this rom ? On each and every ROM for now my tablet charged up to 93% and never reached the end of charging/full battery.

I don't know whether this ROM will fix your problem, or not. My P1 goes ahead and charges all the way to 100%.

As far as making ROM's you don't need to wipe the tablet....unfortunately, I don't see if that can happen totally.

Whenever you upgrade to a new firmware version, I highly recommend that you do a full wipe. There are often changes in each new firmware version that could cause problems if you don't.

I always keep a full Titanium backup of each tablet...every time I get ready to flash a new ROM, I update the backup. After flashing, the first thing I do is go to Google Play Store and install Titanium with the key. Then I "restore missing apps with data". That gets me back to normal within about 5 minutes after each flash.

There are just certain things you can't do by installing a whole ROM with custom recovery....like changing the size of the user app space.

I know that some things we can only make via a flash from a flash-tool... however if I already (once) choose 4GB partition layout then I don't see a reason to change it ever again. And for that a CWM/TWRP flashable non-wipe ROM is great.

I also use TitaniumBackup (and Super Backup) but this is sometimes too much hassle...

Nevertheless -- many many thanks for your great work.

On all of my RK3188 ROM's, I included a template to create a TWRP flashable zip file. Now that we have a working TWRP, I will starting including this template in the ROM kit again.

Rather than posting two different versions of the ROM, it's really easy to prepare an update.zip file with the ROM files you need to flash. You just can't change partition sizes.

          That's a good idea.

That's a perfect idea and solution for the people that don't want to flash it from the start over and over again

Thanks to Abdul_pt, we now have a working TWRP recovery for the Pipo P1.

              Here's the link:

              TWRP

To install TWRP recovery, just open the Flash Tool and uncheck all of the items except recovery. Click the little box to the right of the recovery line and browse to the location you saved this TWRP recovery file and select it as the recovery file.

Click the switch button to reboot to flash mode. Don't erase IDB. Just click Run and the recovery will flash.

Your tablet will reboot to system when it's done flashing. Just open the Reboot App and select Reboot to Recovery to get into TWRP.

Future RileyROM versions will include this TWRP recovery with the auto install feature.

For those with the WIFI version, can they disable the 3G service so that it does not consume any extra battery?

Unless you are having trouble with v1.3 on your wifi only device...I would hold out for the next wifi version. Otherwise, you are welcome to try this ROM, just expect the battery consumption to go up.

Under Jellybean, I had a way to disable 3G, but it doesn't work will with these new KK versions.

                        I've never encountered that...but that's one thing I didn't test.

I will check with Abdul_pt and see if he can track down the cause.

Unfortunately, you will need to flash the ROM again.

You should be able to get into flash mode manually by holding the back button and pressing power with the USB connected and the flash tool running. If that doesn't work, you will need to try the volume buttons.

Take a paper clip and press the reset button to turn off the tablet, if you are stuck in recovery.

One other thing you can try...if you already did a backup is to try to restore your backup. See if it restores the system.

For those of you running TWRP with this ROM...don't do a wipe with TWRP until we get a fix.
