Tested spmc on M8 a few days and here are results...

After installing first thing I did was try to play a video and stream and had no video but sound. After going into video acceleration I figured out it was amcodec and unchecked it and then video was running again. This seemed odd since this is a Amlogic box.

Next I played the same stream I always test with on the latest 4k xbmc released that I prefer for this device and stream played flawless. Next on spmc the stream started out just as good and about a minute into it started pixilating (Tried it several times to make sure it wasn't coincidence and was still pixilating.

After a few more things I tried I finally just deleted and realized spmc was obviously not made for M8 and us probably setup for what is was originally made for which is Ouya I'm presuming.

I like the launcher idea and maybe we will see it work better soon on m8.

If only I could get one of them to work as they should... this box is powerful enough to make an extremely good media center, all with the power consumption of a bed side clock…

My box is a "clone" (although I don't know what his means... aren’t they all clones of a typical hardware configuration?).

On both Finless 1.8 and 1.7 I have very stable box (never crashed Android or had reboots), except with XMBC or SPMC...

I get crashes, network problems (not able to access SMB, for instance), cannot play certain files - XBMC doesn't even show is trying, just doesn't do anything and the same file is played fine in SPMC… but just the first time! (when you stop and play again, it crashes), etc.
        All in all, a nightmare…

If the box is stable with this firmware, shouldn’t an application run as smooth as all the others? I cannot get this kind of particularities… is just plain suffering.

If only my Rpi had half the power of this box… (ok, 1/4 would be enough to make a good media center)

Sorry thought I mentioned I was running finless 1.7 I tried 1.8 but it has the interlacing issues no matter what xbmc I used so I went back.

@jopereira unfortunately xbmc on Android is still not perfected so you have to keep testing what works best for you does not work best for others it seems.

I'm not sure what it is, but my ASUS FHD 10 Me302C (x86 based) runs XBMC fine without the above isses. That was the main reason why I bough a TVbox.

With M8 I don't even know how to explain my problem...

I had the same problem got fed up with the m8 in the end.

I now have a minix x8-h and it is so much better for me. Smpc is running flawlessly on beta 8 and finless tweaker.

                  Hi Oman

I had same issues with spmc. but xbnc stanes build and yours work great Id like to see the need for root on those ver removed as like others dont think the need to have permissions set is big deal. alot of improvements in the release Thanks needed the key board fix

been testing all week and the support has been great thanks to bob, leolas and wesser and the others this box rocks now! tried the linux xbmc rom and its smoking fast and clean video i love leolas multi user function and bobs fixes for the ps3 controler would be good to see the bluetooth fix for the ps3 as well in next release.

                  keep at it again Thanks!!!

Is your M8 an "original" one or other model?

Here's a picture of mine (not original):
