I've thought seriously about buying this. I've saw it mentioned on here several times. I saw it in my local big lots today. They have lots of them. I just don't know if I need something that looks a lot like a phone and seems to be about the size of a phone too. Can anyone post pics of the thing up next to a smartphone or other devices so we can see size comparisons?Polaroid PMID701i 13

I don't know much about making roms and such, but I've been trying to learn. I just got done getting my PMID701i x13 back from the screen not working properly when I tried to flash another rom onto it. I'm back on the stock rom now. Could you go into settings on yours, then go to "display" then pick "screen adaption" and it should give you a current resolution. I'm wondering what resolution they have. If its the same or similar to what I have on this tablet, it could have very good screen clarity.Polaroid PMID701i 13

How does the screen look? One complaint I have about the 701i is the screen resolution is a little low so things look a little bit grainy. Especially after I'm used to the awesome screen on my Thunderbolt and iPod touch.

[Essentially] the same pixel density as our other beloved Polaroid tablets:
7" 800 x 480 = 133 dpi
4.3" 480 x 272 = 128 dpi
Same screen size and resolution as the Sony PSP, and you don't hear kids complaining about that.
That said, yeah, it's a bit subpar for small text, but pinch to zoom works good. Graphics look nice. Block out a 2.1" x 3.75" area on your 7" and you'll know pretty much what you would be looking at.
Got a white one. No issues, except home button and lock screen stopped working after installing Market. Note it does not come with a charger, just a micro USB cable (same as $$ iPod Touch). The micro USB cable I am using overlaps the power button (huh?). Camera is VGA, with zoom. SlideIT keyboard works real real nice, although stock keyboard worked fine. It's pretty perky overall.
The package emphasizes "Designed in the USA" (though Made in China); The signoff screen says
"Made in "
"Polaroid"

I bought one as a toy to play around with a few days ago.
They had both the white and black version available. I choose the black one.
I installed Google Play without any problems.
I really haven't had any problems with it. Everything works fine for me and agree its pretty "perky" overall. The screen, sound, mic, and camera are all adequate but not great.
My only complaints are that it is only 4.3" but since it cell phone size you can easily put it in your pocket. The battery life is not too great either. It also does get slightly warm after long periods of use.

If I had an extra $65 laying around, I would have one of these for sure. If nothing else, it seems like a great thing for my son to play angry birds and stuff on.
