Stuck at Finless 1.8 logo

Because I was having sound problems (no audio via hdmi) on my M8 square, I downloaded and installed a fresh version of the Finless Rom. The problems continued so I was going to try and install a copy of 1.7 but I cannot get into recovery, I am stuck at the logo. I have tried pressing the reset button but this does nothing.
Any suggestions please?

Does it happens at every start-up or only if you want to boot to recovery?
-> If only if you want to boot to recovery, are you using the "OTG hack" (jumper at PCB)?
--> If yes, is your box connected via OTG at PC?

My box is connected to my TV via HDMI and that's all.
It is stuck at the logo and absolutely nothing I try will get me past.
I have pulled the power cord, pressed the reset button, waited and waited (over an hour) but nothing.
I am about send it back unless I can get it working again.

Put recovery.img on SDcard. If it's getting to the logo it is trying to load recovery and that must be corrupt in NAND. Putting recovery.img on SDcard with the ROM update should work as if it cant load recovery it will load the one on sdcard.

All I have on the card is the recovery.img file and the rom. Last time I managed to get into recovery the external-sd wouldn't mount at all, I think this might be the problem.

Yes the square M8 SDcard slot can be flaky!
Clean the contacts on your SDcard and reformat as fat32 with the PC.

In the past I've had problems with booting to recovery.img (on the sd card) when using a sd card with greater than 2gb of capacity. (Mainly Ainol devices tbh)
So I use a old mobile/cell phone sd card with 1gb of capacity and it works spot on.

Also I format the sd card with a secondary program on windows (I think from sdcard.org? can't remember but I can take a look later if you wanna try it??? )

That's that. I have tried four cards now, still no joy so its boxed up and going back tomorrow.

I have never had an issue formatting any SDcard in Windows 7 nor using a SDcard up to 32GB.

I have about 4 different models so this is based on that fact.

only used sd formatter when cards were corrupt and did not show their full size.

maybe try downloading file again.

as said in one of my post before it goes through the fuses if it fails then it looks else where for that image like sd card. and as bob has mentioned.

try different recoveries imgs cannot find that post member had maybe no spam me can find it as he was also helping out on the thread few weeks back

Sorry guys, didn't realise I said I'd had issues using win 7 formatter. I use it as it does the best job of formatting for me and as just me said ensures the sdcard is not corrupt and capacity is correct.

Also sorry I mentioned the small sized sdcard tip if it's never been a issue. I use the technique I've used for years with no probs too.

Maybe time for me to have a change!?? Major problem change with OCD though it's strict routines that keep me sane.

Same issue with mk908

I have the same issue with an MK908. I flashed a finless 1.8 rom and it worked fine at the time. However I have not used the device for a few weeks and now when I try to power it on it gets stuck at the start-up logo that shows "Finless 1.8 Rom" in the middle and "Freaktab.com" and "MK908" in the bottom corners.

Can anyone help with a starter for what I need to do to recover this or get by this screen?

But you know that the MK908 use the RK3188?
You should ask it at the right sub-forum/thread...

Hello Bob,
Just got the M8 box version appears as M8 KitKat in settings section - and tried flashing the Finless 1.8 but after entering into recovery mode > progress bar, I was stuck on the finless V1.8 boot logo. Have tried several times but still same any idea what to do next?
