Thanks for the details. I thought I tested with a FAT32 filesystem. I will double check and update our instructions.

Glad to hear you got it working!
In my experience, it seemed necessary to format the microSD using FAT16 in order to load the linuxfs.img successfully.
Once you have unified Android + Linux VolksPC system up and running, you may reformat the microSD using FAT32 for general use.

Hello, thank you for yur help!
I test to install with Fat32 partition in the SD card, and it flash the image correctly.
Now I know that my problem was about the time of wait since you init the android with SD, before I think the image was flashed while the boot . but now I see the image is flashed after you run android while android is run.
Now I am testing the debian system and installing the things what I need.
When I Get work all, I will post here
I am very happy with this Double-system.
            Bye

              Hi,

We have a new release with Debian 7.7 and many bug fixes.
We also have a VolksPC installer application on Android that should make Debian installation very easy.
              With the installer:
              1. You can install directly on the device from the net. You will need to have MEGA's android application installed.
              2. You can install from USB/SD card which has the volkspcimg.zip downloaded.
              3. You can uninstall the current distribution and install a new one. Useful for upgrading from Wheezy to Jessie. Your "desktop" user data is not removed.
              4. There is X11 switch button as well.

              Regards
              Vasant

                  Hi,

You cannot install CWM and make it work with Debian. The Android distribution that we provide has some changes that allow it to work with Debian.

The volkspcimg.zip is the Debian root file system with our changes. Of course this doesn't have any new applications that you may have installed. With the latest installer you can also find the current image at /data/data/org.volkspc.installer/files/linuxfs.img.

                  Regards

                    This is really awesome Vasant!

But i would love to know if this works on the minix neo x5 mini... I would love to run linux on my box but am afraid to break it, maybe you could have a look at the specs and give me some advice?

                    Cheers,

Please note that user "desktop" files and configuration are not in linuxfs.img. This allow you to upgrade to Jessie for example without losing any of your customization.

                          Hi Watts,

Seems like the Minix NEO X5 mini has Ethernet and RK903 Wifi. We don't seem to have that combination. Even when the combination is right somethings will break because GPIO's are not exactly the same.
If you are using Wifi I would suggest trying the MK808 version but Ethernet will not work.
Sorry I cannot give you any guarantees. But you can always flash your original image.

                              Hello!, Happy new year!
I have problems to configure some things:
                              1- Remote desktop;
I try to install xrdp, vnc and x11vnc but I can not do work!
I use the ssh to conect to the volkspc but I got an error. If I use ctrl+c I can use ssh perfectly.
                              2- Auto Start aplications
I create some scripts to use in init.d but never run my programs
3- I want create shortcut keyboard and programs seem to xbindkeys to change keys to other uses.
I need change the funcion "Alt+Ctrl+F7" to other key to use my mini-keyboard to change the system.

Now I am using the dual system to client torrent and directly download, proxy, sftp, samba(with any problem) and sopcast!!
It is much more stable the second version of system.
I use many tutorials for Raspbian, (ARM+Debian), some rule some not.
                              Thank you for your time.

                                Hi Tardyman,

                                My answers are inline.

I have problems to configure some things:
                                1- Remote desktop;
I try to install xrdp, vnc and x11vnc but I can not do work!

                                > We have tested vnc client is the past and it has worked. And others have reported RDP client working. What problems are you seeing ?

I use the ssh to connect to the volkspc but I got an error. If I use ctrl+c I can use ssh perfectly.

                                > I don't think SSHD daemon is running you will need to start this as root or put this in /etc/rc.android.

                                2- Auto Start aplications
I create some scripts to use in init.d but never run my programs

                                > You will have to modify /etc/rc.android to add the daemon that you want to start on boot up. We already do this for cups and dbus.

3- I want create shortcut keyboard and programs seem to xbindkeys to change keys to other uses.
I need change the funcion "Alt+Ctrl+F7" to other key to use my mini-keyboard to change the system.

                                > This cannot be changed as it is hard-coded in the kernel. However in our new release it is user configurable.

Here is a clip of the latest software running on RK3288, Cortex-A17 based Android TV box.
