Rom for Cs918

Hi,
I am looking for a rom/firmware for my cs918 rk3188 with rk30board. I would like to be able to play 1080p movies, I have tried beyond xbmc and a lot of xbmc versions but none work. Now I need a rom/firmware for this box and I would also need a tutorial because I am new to rooting etc. Is there anyway I can backup the rom I have now so if the new rom i try is not compatible, I will not brick the device.

You can back up your stock ROM using one of the methods in this thread.

There seem to be a variety of boards in this outer box, so worth checking out the K-R42/CS918/MK888/Jesurun forum

You may have to open up the box to see exactly what board you have inside to be sure but by backing up your stock ROM, you can also just try a few until you get one that works.

The other thread has a closed status for some unknown reason.

Can't see too much from the pics but from what I can see, under that black square covering you will almost certainly find that you have the cutdown RK3188T CPU, so need a T-R42 ROM.

Having a dig around the forums for what others have tried with the particular 4.3 board revision, the best ROM for you would seem to be Wasser 1.2.5

One person that had tried a few ROM's with the same board revision reported that this was the only one that they had tried that worked.

If you backup your stock ROM first then try it and go from there.

did anyone tried to use the 1.2.5 on my device CS818ii - I am willing to try.

My main problem is that i simply dont know what i'm doing!!!

How do i start the process? How to connect to the device?
which files to download? Kernel/no kernel... all of them?

Is there a tutorial somewhere?
