issues with m8 box and air mouse

hi all, new here and new to android so looking for a little help or advice if possible, i just got the ott m8 box and also purchased the minix neo a2 air mouse, when i insert the usb receiver for the mouse into the port there is no audio via hdmi or optical and any video files stutter whether its streaming from the web or on a local hard drive, I've tried a factory restore with no success and have also installed the finless 1.6 rom to see if that would resolve the issue but it didn't, I'm not sure if the remote is conflicting with software or if its a hardware fault, I've been googling for hours and can't find anything relating to this issue so i don't imagine its a common occurrence, the box works fine with the standard remote but i can't stand trying to type or navigate with it, i need the air mouse, what do yous think, any help or info would be appreciated, cheers!

also i may have the option to return the box so i was considering replacing it with the minix neo x8, would you let me know if you think this box is better in comparison, cheers.

I haven't got my box any more, its gone back for exactly these reasons and the fact it will not boot up properly anymore. I did find that putting the usb receiver into the inner NOT the outermost usb port and SoundAbout set to HDMI and usb settings unticked improved the stuttering but don't know which was the cure. To be honest, not at all impressed with these M8 boxes, wish I had bought a Minix Neo 8.

messing about with it and I've got it working but still a few issues, i didn't realise sound about was an app, i am an apple boy after all and new to android due to my atv2 not coping very well with xbmc, cheers for the help, the issues I'm having now is only a few of the buttons on the remote actually do anything, is there any way to remap the remote to use all of its features?

also I've got finless 1.6 running on it just now, been reading through the forum about the 1.8 version and the video bug, is this bug with all video i.e streaming from the net and local storage? and is there a way i can download and install xvmc on the box rather than downloading to my mac, transferring to an sd card and then installing it? thanks again, ill get there eventually!

(forget the question about getting xbmc, got it running now)
