Only half picture shows in xbmc?

Guys, a friend of mine got mx3 box with 2gb ram and after installing his addons etc., in the stock firmware it came with on the stock xbmc that was installed, he experienced some movies that he played were only showing half of the picture, the whole picture was expanded and wouldn't fit in the screen.

So, I helped him out with installing the 108k4 firmware meant for the s82 round devices, which flashed fine. I uninstalled the stock xbmc that's included in that firmware and installed the latest nightly build because of the 10min freeze issue with some 1080p movies. Everything worked fine initially, however, he called me today to let me know that only half of the picture was showing, filling up the whole screen, the picture had expanded again.

Can anyone tell me why this is happening? I've read someone else here reporting a similar problem, but, there weren't any further discussions on it, or maybe i've failed to find them yet. So, please someone help me out with this, why is this issue happening. And I have the same firmware installed on my s82b and I'm not getting that issue. I also have the same version of kodi nightly installed as well. Have yet to get that issue.

your tv , is it 720p or full 1080p?

Mine is 1080p however, the friend's is 720p.

Isn't omans XBMC installed at 108k4?
Why don't you use the preinstalled XBMC?
If I remember correctly specially at 720 ('HD ready') TV's there are problems with not for s802 "optimized" XBMC's (video 1/4 issue)...
Had your friend tried to use 1080i at his 'HD ready' TV?

i had same issue, i have a 1080p tv
the Settings-mbox auto detects my tv as 720p
so i manually set mbox setting to 1080p
now all seems better.

i have a mbox s82b, netxeon pcb
