Beelink M8B shuts down by itself randomly

First of all, I thank all the developers of this forum who improved these android tv boxes so much. Without you, I wouldn't charge ahead and buy my first ever android tv box: Beelink M8B.

Within minutes of receiving the box, I flashed Bob's Finless 1.9 ROM. When setting up the box, it would sometimes shut down suddenly (after a few minutes or after over an hour). Sometimes if I tried to turn it back on immediately, it wouldn't do anything (no blue or red light at all). It would turn on finally if I waited a bit longer, but sometimes it would die again before booting up to the main menu.

I tried different ROM's: Finless 1.9, Wasser 1.0.3, Oman's stock 108k4 and even Finless 1.8. I also tried 2 better quality 5V2A / 5V2.5A power supplies. None of that solves the problem.

    BACKGROUND:
The box originally came with stock 103k4. I used Oman's XBMC 13.1. Most of the time, the box shut itself down when I was setting up XBMC (moving up/down in the menu, entering the repo name, tinkering with other settings, etc.). At first I thought it was the XBMC, but then I encountered the same problem even in the box media launcher setting menu.

I searched the forum extensively, but was unable to find a solution. Can someone please help me with that?

    UPDATE:
I put Finless 1.9 back on and tried playing a rmvb file stored on the network. It shut down within 15 minutes for twice and I had no interaction using the remote control or air mouse. This is frustrating.

    Thanks.

Sounds like same problem that what I had, when I first got the Beelink Box (2 weeks ago)!
It is now solved by installed Finless's ROM V1.9! Not sure what's else I did!

However, then I have a new problem on the Oman's XBMC 14.0 (more detail..). The XBMC kept crashed when I tried to bring the Audio/Video context menu (button) during it plays any Video!

I suggest you replace it from where you bought..

      Why not try 13.2 xbmc?

Thanks Oman! Good question! let me describe it a little more as follows:

Yes, I did try most of XBMC and ROM versions available here and found the best combination (performance for PVR Add-ons) is Finless's ROM V1.9 and Oman's XBMC 14.0.

I had tried both XBMC that you just pointed out and Got an issue on the "Live-TV windows Display", which are unuseable!

Within XBMC and Live-TV add-ons with PVR IPTV Simple Client! The windows display (video) is shifted too far off to the right and 1/4 on bottom screen, 3/4 on the left is black screen (no Video shown)! It works fine on full-screen mode but not for windows mode display!

Please refer to The screenshot (example) as follows:

        Note:
        * Same issue on the stock ROM (108k4) and Decoded 4K XBMC V13.1 & V13.2
        * The Previous version (V14.0) "xbmc-for-amlogic-20140513-oman" and "xbmc-13.1-Gotham-armeabi-v7a-oman" do not have this (display) issue!
        * When I tried "xbmc-13.1-Gotham-armeabi-v7a-oman" and found the XBMC only ran 2 CPUs instead of 4 (on other XBMC version)! It kept bufferred during streaming (livestreams) the HD Video over internet! Not sure what's happened, I now try to find best XBMC version for Amlogic M8 Chipset but could not find any yet! Any thoughts?
        * Say with the new 13.2 XBMC, which has good performance, but does not run well on Live-TV PVR (same above shifting Display issue)!

Any ideas? Could you please help!
Can someone please help to confirm it! Or no body is using the PVR Add-ons for it?
If someone knows what's best combination of ROM and XBMC version for this hardware, please advise!

Thank you very much in advanced!

Oman, so what may be the problem based on your experience? From what you suggested, I think I can safely assume it's a non-fixable hardware problem, but I still want to know what it is. Thanks.

I confirm that i am having the same problem as yours, the video shifted to the right in preview mode. Full screen mode is fine. Mine Tronsmart Vega runs on Finless 1.9 and 13.2 Oman's XBMC

I think it might be some patchs for this AML s802 I had done...

Because you said xbmc-for-amlogic-20140513-oman" and "xbmc-13.1-Gotham-armeabi-v7a-oman" dont have that problem..those two versions didnt patch that.

And the patches are mainly for 4k decode and 2160P/720P HDMI display..

Okey, what I am suggest is take a try to the latest Kodi xbmc with 108k4 or some other FWs based on it.

Sounds like a good suggestion to me, I'm going to try your 108k4 ROM along with latest Kodi!
Do you have later XBMC version like 13.2 or 14.0 alpha 2/3 without AML s802 patched that you want me to try out, let me know?

                  Thanks!

Oman, can you please help to release the 13.2 version, without AML s802 patched would be nice to see if the display problem's solved!

                    Thanks again!

You can download on xbmc.org website..

Because the box is rooted, you can run any xbmc without problems.
