Since my last post here I tried many version of xbmc. The spmc works well but the best experience I've had is with Beyond xbmc 12.4.1. It plays well and I am using it everyday. Try it , put your xbmc bachup on and enjoy.

What does "Option to use MX Player as the playback device in context menu" means? Right mouse button? And when or where?

Older versions of XBMC did have an option to select different playback apps for different scenarios.

I just received my Meta and starting poking around. I noticed there is no sound. I am connected via HDMI to a Pioneer receiver. I didn't see anyone mention it in the Tronsmart forum but it looks like a common issue in the Beelink forum.

Can someone confirm that this is the case and it's not just me?

I also didn't see much discussion about a fix on the Beelink forum so I was wondering if this is something the manufacturers are working on? Seems like a big deal.

Otherwise the box is super fast so far. I'll test some more playback but the sound thing is bugging me too much tonight.

XBMC (13.2 & Kodi) buggy at best! Force stop fixes occasional freezing issue, for a bit, until it ultimately starts booting to a black screen (fatal crash). Uninstall/re-install required. Will try SPMC and report back.
Tronsmart Orion R28 Meta. Wasser Lollipop Beta 5 (very stable). Video Out: 60" 1080p LG Plasma TV-HDMI 1.3. Audio Out: Default (stable). Remote In: TaoTronics TT-MK005 Air keyboard/mouse (keys repeating). Apps: Kodi (stable), Plex (stable), WatchESPN (Stable), Amazon (Stable).

Same issues with XBMC and Kodi, plus random lags and/or freezes and "green squares" while playing videos. H.265 out of sync and/or laggy with every version. only usable with stock video player or MX Player.

SPMC almost no freezes during normal operations and no annoyances when playing videos, save than h.265 which are still laggy and out of sync, no matter which settings I try in "video playback" options screen.

If you had really read through the beelink sub-forum you had recognized that you are not alone AND that they discuss a lot about this issue and working hard to fix it...
But you are also welcome to support oman to fix it...

Ahhh..found the thread. I was looking at the playback thread when I should have been looking at the hardware thread. Here is the link in case anyone else cares:

I will see if I can help with testing when I get home tonight.

Used the latest nightly build of Kodi Helix Alpha this afternoon.

It played a 1080p HEVC file (albeit with slight lag and very offset audio) that would not even play without half a green screen in the contentious modded XBMC and played all my other test files flawlessly, including the 120 Jellyfish that had stutter on other versions.

                        It is coming along nicely.

now, We can't support h.265 decode by hardware with flv / ts format, because of xbmc's parse not supporting HEVC

I have noticed that the screen is very dark when playing videos that are stored in internal or external storage, but the same videos aren't dark when streamed from Netflix or YouTube. I've tested all of the preinstalled video players and I've tested the files using my laptop connected to the same TV. The downloaded files are noticeably brighter even when played with my NVIDIA Shield while connected to my TV.

Has anyone else noticed an issue like this?

The R28 is on the latest firmware and is connected via HDMI.

                              This will be of interest.

We will likely need Tronsmart to provide more settings in a future ROM.

If you want to experiment with your device try installing the ut3 firmware on the R28. The settings under display/hdmi has picture quality settings. I had the darkness on my streaming and after installing the ut3 firmware the picture quality was greatly improved.
