    Thanks for the suggestion! I am definitely interested in trying that. Do you by any chance have a link to the firmware?

    Also, is it difficult to flash a ROM on the R28? I am used to having TWRP when I flash ROMs on Android devices. I've looked at the recovery on the R28 and I'm a bit unsure about what does what.

    If I'm not mistaken, there is a factory restore image available for the R28, which if correct is very nice. I love to tinker and having that easy way back to factory condition is great.

    I've got to do something, the dark picture quality on certain videos is really driving me nuts.

      Google Ugoos and go to their home page. At the top of the page click on downloads and it is the first firmware available. Downlooad and unzip it. Be sure to install drivers and use the rk tool provided in the firmware you unziped. On my box I always go to setting, usb and click on connect to computer. Then I open the tool and I always click on switch and you will hear a boon and your tv box will switch screens. It is usually in Chineese so I will try to explain, when you open the tool there will be 4 rectangle boxes at the bottom. From left to right. Second box is switch, next I click on the forth box and there will be some writting below the rectangle boxes, after than I go to the first box( run or flash ) and it loads the firmware on the box, about 4 to 5 mins. Your device will reboot and you are ready to set it up. That is how I do it. Some one else may explain it better than I but this works every time foe me. Good luck.

          @odrewjr
          If you want to have the Android Tool from RK in English you just need to edit the config file that is located in the same folder of the application before launching the application and change the select=1 (Chinese) to select=2 (English).
          I've done it and it works.

                Thanks for the info!

                I was able to switch firmware thanks to this guide.

                All I need now is to learn how to root the UT3 firmware I just installed and I'll be pretty happy. The brightness settings do make a noticeable difference. I just wish I had root.

                    Finless has a rk3288 zip on the forum you will have to check forum or someone eles point you in the right direction and it works great. Also go to calculator app and enter !^06^ and it will root your device and add super user app after it re-boots. Good luck !

                      Thanks, I just upgraded to the finless firmware. That's two Roms flashed in less than 2 hours. I'm sticking with this one though.

                      The Android tools make it pretty quick and easy.

                      This forum and the folks here are awesome. Thanks for all the help everyone!
