R28 Pro/Meta General hints, tips and advice

You do realize the Tronsmart Orion is the same as the beelink box so all these discussions will be nothing but duplication.

Thanks for doing this but I think having these discussions on 2 places is not the best idea.

I think it is best to delete all these feedback posts and have them in the Beelink forum?

You are saying the firmware/pcb are the same with the Tronsmart Orion R28 with 2/8gb 2/16gb and the Beelink R89 2/8gb 2/16gb? Does anyone know if the Orion has air vents on the bottom of the case? The new SOC is looking very promising....

Yes, Nexton is making the board for Tronsmart. Just like the S82 and S89 are the same.
Tronsmart makes their own cases and what not so other then the board being the same, everything else maybe different.

ROM's will be cross compatible since Oman is making them for Tronsmart.

So, I think you all agree it would be best to have one discussion area for the ROMs?

of cause, sure, maybe only links like at the aml's, but I would prefer to only use ONE sub-forum for them...

I had no idea that they were the same.

I haven't seen anything to indicate it but yes, if they are, then it does make sense to have one set of threads, which could also have their titles updated to reflect the fact that they can be used for both boxes.

The fact that they are the same also means that new ROM's will be interchangeable,so all good in my book

In fact it might be better to remove the Tronsmart 3288 section altogether and update the Beelink one such that it will show that it is covered by both.

Yes Bob one thread with the title for Tronsmart\Beelink together would be good.

Just one extra thought that somebody reminded me of.

The R28 Pro has a different wireless chipset, so will likely need a couple of thread areas specific to it's difference.

I wont be moving the entire Tronsmart forum because it will have its differences.

I am only talking about ROM feedback to Oman. I am sure he does not want to look in 2 places for "stock" ROM feedback.

Also if Tronsmart does have a unique device that is being built just for them, then yes we would leave that here.

I have just received my R28 Orion Pro and there are vent holes in the base and slots in the top of the back side panel.
Started testing the installed XBMC with XunityTalk Addons.
                    Hope to review soon.

Sounds great, am looking forward to your review! Pictures would be really nice, please.... I would like to see the bottom and if you could open up the unit and take a good pic of the mainboard and inside of the case both top and bottom. I would also mainly be using XBMC with all the typical addons such as ICE films\Mashup\NaviX etc. along with all types of locally stored files mp4/mkv/Avi dvix/xvid. I will be using an addon for live tv pvr with my tuners which uses mpeg2 1080i and 720p. I keep hearing about issues with the S802 with 1080i mpeg2 so I am curious about an issues with the RK3288.

I humbly disagree! Oman's convenience should NOT take precedence over your forum members' experiences. Expecting new, or even old members to look in the Beelink discussion area for information pertaining to their $120 Tronsmart is equally counter-intuitive, as duplicate posts.

At least make us feel a little important.

The main idea is to have one centralized location for discussion of all duplicate hardware. As long as there is a post to explain this fact and a link to the thread. Perhaps the thread title should include the names of the devices so the thread is easy to find for new members and all searching for device support. The first post of the central thread should also keep an updated list of devices the thread is about. I agree this is just for rom support.

In my eyes ONE sub-forum for all compatible devices is more user- AND support"team"-friendly... (e.g. how often the same questions as a new thread started at different sub-forums for compatible devices)

I agree 100%! Else, the discussions only benefit seasoned enthusiasts and Beelink customers.
