    How can I check which brand the chips are? Yea I assumed it must be a newer revised version, so far I've only had the box for a day but xbmc has been running really well on it. It's also my first experience with this box so wasn't sure at first why people seem to complain about it so much, maybe the changes they made help? When stane releases his new linux version i will attempt to flash it.

          Yes but TBH I can't see much difference!

          Remote Controller also Changed...

          New Remote looks like Round S89 remote but also Controls the TV set with IR Learning capability!

            I have the exact same box. Just the number on the right side is different. Mine also says 2104/3/12 and I received mine 2 days ago.

            How do you tell what wifi module it has. I'm sure it's not a AP6330 because I'm not able to get wifi with Stane1983's linux build.

                I was told I don't have ap6330 and that's why the wifi doesn't work with Stane's linux build. But I'll take it apart again and look.

                  Your right, I do have ap6330. So it must be how I'm installing the build.

                  I asked this question before but never got a straight answer. When I install Linux on Gbox Mx2 I have to install it over either stock firmware 1.1.5 or 1.1.6, depending on which linux build I'm installing. If I don't do that I will not get wifi access points to choose from, just like when I install Stane's linux build.

                  My question is, do I need to install any linux build over top of the M8's original firmware or can I install linux builds over top of any build that is currently on my box at that time.

                  Thanks

                    nothing like that for M8 box but what you can do ;

                    press reset and boot into recovery menu (without SDCARD) clear factory data and wipe cache after these 2 completed insert sdcard and install Linux build once again...
                    Good Luck

                      Yeah that's what I do with OpenELEC on Mx2. Thanks for clearing that up with the M8, appreciate it.

                            Actually it was my fault. With other linux builds the access points would automatically show up, I didn't have to do anything. With this one I had to actually click ADD to get them to show up.

                              I just got one and it's the newer version of the original M9&M8_V1.0 dated 2014/07/07. It does have the tv learning remote as well. What's the best firmware for this box? Also, the firmware it comes with is pretty good but, the WiFi really sucks. I'm getting 16 Mbps with Ethernet and less than 1 Mbps with WiFi even though the WiFi router is only a couple of feet away.

                              I had heard the WiFi was bad on these units, but didn't expect it to be this bad.
