XBMC will play it only in PCM 2.0 AAC 5.1 is supported only in MX player. Check my thread here: Multichannel PCM.

I am truly sorry for having mislead you. I looked at my test results again. AAC 5.1 is not supported by X8-H. It will play only in stereo. It is because X8-H downmix 5.1 to stereo on all audio outputs (HDMI, SPDIF, Headphones). It was on my Nexus 7 that I got proper 5.1 with MX player.

          Well found a solution.
AAC DD5.1 will output 5.1, if in settings with advanced level enabled go to, AUDIO OUTPUT and enable passthrough,2.0 channel (will still passthrough) and then enable DD transcoding.

Yes, that will also work for XBMC.
