MXII BACK UP to a second device ?

Hey guys I'm new here having spent most of my spare time on sat scene but now moving away from STB.

What brought me here is a friend of mine picked up a MII and gave me a demo of it.
Dont know what fware is loaded but was impressed with layout and apps.

Did a little research and decided to get the quad M8 instead.
A huge disappointment in comparison so I'm going to get a MII and configue the same as my mates.

is there an easy way of taking a back up of my mates device and loading onto a new device ?
Is it possible to just clone the 1st device onto a 2nd device.

TWRP should do the trick mate.
I have a beelink M8B (round red + black device) quad core. I've not really got a complaint about it, ROM or setup. You should share your problems with the 'm8' and let the freaktab community get you sorted.

If I remember correctly, the TWRP for MXII* works at the moment only at SD card version (not at flash), also I'm not sure if it will work if both systems doesn't use the same FW-release (btw: there also exists a CWM SD card version...).

Maybe a better way would like to use titanium backup for the app's...

There also exist a pro version which is able to handle all at one click....

      EDIT
      * beware there also exist different pcb (motherboard) versions...

The stream quality on the M8 wasn't as good as the mx2.
Couldn't get the UKHD live sports feeds on the M8
I find the MX2 responds faster and just seams more stable.

The different pcb layout could be a problem if restoring a FULL nandroid backup from one device to another. Although TWRP on sdcard rather than recovery partion wouldn't be an issue to make the backup. I've done it many times on my other aml8726-mx device with TWRP on sdcard.

So you've tried the custom ROMS for the m8? If your on old stock firmware, response and ROM smoothness could be poor. The dev's here a FT work the magic on shitty stock firmware and make it the way it should be.

No I haven't tried any other fware as I purchased it from droidsticks which I read is really finless fw installed.
The difference in stream quality between the m8 and the mx2 was night and day with mx2 being far sharper.
However I do realise that the mx2 is now 2 years old which is a long time in droidlife.
Maybe MX3 could be the answer?
The MX3 has the same specs as the M8 so would there be any noticeable difference ?

NO, MX3 has the neary same pcb layout as the round ones, so, if you buy a 2GB version, you can use all fw of the round ones (Tronsmart and Beelink)...

In your opinion is the mx3 better than the M8?

It seams so, I don't own one of both, but what I read...
Generally the fw support is much better at round/mx3(2GB) ...
At square M8 I read about video quality problems at newer fw (and also about problems with clone pcb's)...

You've hit the nail there mate. The aml8726mx series is 2 years old so it's had loads of time to refine the firmware to SOC. My ainol hero runs xbmc beautifully and it 18 months+ old with firmware from last March 2013!

If you box came with a de-branded finless ROM it could be an early release v1.0 or v1.1 so an update to the latest version wouldn't hurt to try. I think stane has done a Linux version ROM for the EMY M8 which is solely built for xbmc if you want a different flavour?

The only thing I can say about the mx3 is it appears to be more universal with the ROMS for AML 802 platform and the build quality sounds superior to the ENY (from what I can read).

Seams to concur with my findings.
