    T9 versus P4

I've had good use out of an M6Pro for the past 9 months but I'm thinking of replacing it with a lighter 8.9 inch tablet. If I use the M6Pro for long periods my left thumb joint starts to ache (probably I'm getting old but m6pro is quite a heavy tab so I think a smaller one will help). Also a faster cpu will handle the Retina graphics better.

So I think I will decide between the T9 and the P4. So far there seems to be more custom rom support for P4 and I won't really need the phone feature of the T9, but maybe T9 has better battery life? Any other pros & cons for these two?

While I've done ROM's for both models, I'm more comfortable with the P4 with the RK3288. Even though, users are experiencing some battery drain issues when the tablet is in sleep mode. Otherwise I think the tablet is pretty stable. Just turning off the tablet when not in use fixes that problem, for now. We are working on the battery problem. I recommend the wifi only version, unless you require 3G...it does better with the battery saving adjustments.

The T9 is also a pretty stable tablet, but there is a problem with the KitKat update with camera compatibility...pictures appear out of focus. The original Jellybean firmware is rock solid. Otherwise that tablet is also very stable. You just have to familiarize yourself with the different way of flashing a custom ROM.

        My T9 review:

Can't comment on the P4, it wasn't out when I needed a new tab, but if you don't use the phone features on the T9 you can save battery life by just keeping airplane mode on, it stops the tab from polling for local masts but doesn't stop you using wifi or bluetooth.

The RK3288 is a faster processor on paper, but the T9 is fast enough for everything I need and the sheer quantity of graphics cores (well, 4) means it has enough grunt to make it good at graphics compared to everything from previous generations.

I imagine either choice will be fine. I like my T9 a lot but there's probably a certain amount of confirmation bias involved.

Feel free to ask specific questions about the T9, I'll answer what I can.

Thanks, it was actually a tough choice but I've ordered a P4.

If I get as good a run out of P4 as I have out of my m6pro which I've used everyday for past 9 months I'll be very pleased.

I'm thinking of replacing my M8Pro with a T9 for two main reasons: firstly the 1920x1200 screen, and secondly the option of slipping the sim card from my phone into it (tethering to the phone kills both batteries too quickly when away from a wall socket).

I had a phone with an earlier MTK chip which had broken bluetooth. By this I mean that a bluetooth keyboard would pair but not connect, and so could not be used. I swore off MTK chips after that and stuck with Rockchip, but this newer MTK chipset may have updated the bluetooth component.

Could you tell me if bluetooth keyboards actually work with the the T9? Or indeed bluetooth headsets etc?

            Cheers and thanks

I play music over a bluerooth 4 receiver regularly. It's very well behaved on bt4 in my experience. Haven't tried a keyboard, but no bad experiences pairing so far.
