    Run Android from SD?

    Hello,

I own a Pipo S2 tablet which appears to suffer from bad NAND. The problem presented itself about a year ago and has gotten worse after many ROM flashes. I assume the problem is in the system or data partition, probably system.

I was wondering if there is a way to leave only boot in the NAND and point it to an SD card which will contain all the rest (system, data, kernel, whatever). This seems like the only solution since the tablet, right now, doesn't last an hour after a flash before I get unexpected application shutdowns and freezes.

I know the SD card should offer fast 4k read and write and probably be class 10 and above, but the internal NAND was no gem either. Also, I do not know how severely the lifespan of an SD card would be compromised when an entire OS runs off it 24/7.

Is there a way to do it? I am not interested in trashing it and buying a new tablet since I only want to use it as an ebook reader and for browsing. Light stuff, which doesn't justify spending $100.

    Thank you.

Sorry to bother you again, maybe you were able to compile more info?

I searched around a bit and seems latest Linuxium doesn't run Android from SD. Maybe I should use an older version? I have a fresh ANdroid install right now, should i try and copy it to an SD with an older version of Linuxium?

        Thanks.

Look at the Raxda Project they have Android and Linux Booting from SD. All what must be done is the Magic Code on the SD Card.
