Is there any True 4K2K box out there?

Hello, im looking for a real 4k2k box player, i have recently purchased a Minix X8-H, it seems to have the 4k@30 mode, but when i open any app, it only shows 1920x1080. Seems to me that its upscaling the content, but is no real 4k2k, can you let me know which current or just to be released device is capable of the real 4k2k for app activity?

thanks a lot for your help.

I know that this is going to be a silly question but I have to ask.

You are using a 4k TV I take it?

The only reason that I ask is that there are people that have bought 4k compatible boxes such as from the RK3288 range but been disappointed when they have not seen 4k settings, which only appear when connected to a 4k TV.

A true 4k box will be offered by main stream companies this fall or early 2015. I have heard amazon is making one and will stream 4k content if your have their streaming service ($$). Also heard netflix will stream more 4k next year($). So my best guess is the new android tv boxes will be 4k. Like the Tegra K1.
BUT you will need.... per netflix site.

What do I need to stream Ultra HD?
      • A TV compatible with Ultra HD streaming. Specific brand TVs that allow Netflix 4K. $$$$$
      • A plan that supports streaming in Ultra High Definition. $$
      • A steady Internet connection speed of 25Mbps or higher. $$$
      • Make sure your streaming quality is set to "High." More information about video quality settings can be found in our Playback Settings article.

While 4K/UHD TVs are widely available now, 4K content is not. Here we look at the reasons why this is so - and why technical and cost issues may compromise 4K picture quality.

Currently all chinese boxes are upscaled to 4K. They are false advertising 4K. No true 4K as your have discovered. The market of 4K needs to develop. Look over at the AVS fourm http://www.avsforum.com/ on 4K. Good info in general. But to fix your problem, I have no answer. Contact Minix directly about this issue. http://minixforums.com/ or here http://minixforums.com/forums/neo-x8-neo-x8-h.46/
