NX008HD8G - android-process-media

Hi here again asking for help.

This tablet has some problems after root. Like:

- I can't download or update any app from play store. but I can install them from SD.
- Camara won't work.
- And a message appears saying android.process.media stopped.

I wasted hours and hours looking for a rom (ZIP) or firmware (IMG to use at fastboot mode).

The build.prop say

ro.product.board = NXM8000ND_WD
ro.product.model = NX008HD8G
.brand = Nextbook
.manufacturer = YIFANG
.cpu.abi2 = armeabi
.cpu.abi = armeabi-v7a

Serial No: the stiker behind say something like YF (0 or G) 0413125186

This tablet is still using the stock android OS 4.1.1 rooted using vroot.
And I tried the rom Next8HD8G_SMT_Stock_Rom_070113-signed.zip to restore the tablet, but always fail. (installation abort).

Any idea? or someone know a better rom or firmware?

Just let me say that the tablet it's working good, again: just the cam, download or update apps, and that message of error it's all; but it makes me frustrated.

This is an Amlogic model... I'm moving your post to the Amlogic subforum of the Nextbook forum...


You need a custom recovery... Try my TWRP from here (make sure you get the correct one - Nextbook used two different boards inside that model) :

But you forgot something, the steps to backup, and install.

Don't worry, with my poor experience, and skills computer.
I installed with success your rom (zip). Doing the next steps.

1. Format the SD card to FAT32.
2. Copy the uImage_recovery in SD (without subfolder) << custom recovery mode UI
3. Copy the Rom to be installed in SD (no extract)
4. Turn On the tablet in recovery mode (that automatically do in the custom recovery mode).
5. Make the backup.
6. Tap on Back, then install the Rom.
7. In this part the I'm not sure but the program tell me that a second back up will be made it to install the rom.
8. Wait..... around 10-15 mins

Finally another <<< (you know) the freaky logo of freaktab and your personal logo don't look good.

Some animation on both logos can make them look better.

- Talking about the rom (Zip) everything works fine. just try to make a better Guide for noobs (like me).

- And obvious you need work a little on those logos ;
As designer, you will die for hunger. hahaha lol (";..;") (just a sarcastic joke)

- Camara = ok
- Wi-Fi = ok
- Play Store = ok
- Heavy Games = ok (like Plant vs Zombies 2, SNK, CoC, Bomb Beach)
- GPS = ok
- Sensors = ok
- Backlight = ok
- Touch Display = ok
- SD card reader = ok
- Battery Animation charging = ok

The only port that Im not able to test is the HDMI. (sorry Im a poor guy I cant buy those fancy TVs).
And that include the HDMI app too.
