Ive allowed USB via debugging and ticked the connect to pc, but still nothing!!!

Thanks for for the reply. It's Jellybean 4.2

Have had a google on dalvik, and I'm not very sure how I would know if my box is running on dalvik or ART and how this can be changed?

Did also stumble on the hidden storage device options. It was down as mass storage device which is what I thought it should be, but played withe the media and camera options with no joy.

Any other ideas as I'm losing the plot and about to bin it lol!

Just for clarity thought I should share how I got to this point, initially I had problems with my wifi. It would default to off and when I tried to switch it on it would not seacrch for connections.

as a last resort I did a factory restore and erase which now only brings up the settings option when I boot up.

      hope this helps???

Which OS and version run at the PC?
        w8.1 could be a problem...
        Have you tried another port/cable/PC?

Using windows 7. Tried both USB - USB, OTG port lead and a different PC but it simply doesn't recognise the device?

i know the USB ports work on the device as I use a wireless keyboard?

is there anyway to flash new firmware via the mini sd card if the USB doesn't work?

I always do Storage>USB Connection>Mass Storage>Batch Tool>Switch and it works. With my new MK809III, it runs Kit Kat and that method is not working. I found that page but have not been able to test it out. Never had the problem on JB.

I wouldn't toss it over that, though.

Believe me if you had spent the time I have trying to get this box to work you would already be picking up the pieces lol!

Hopefully someone has experienced the same, otherwise I just wonder if the factory erase has just bricked it?

If it doesn't recognise it also at normal using by adb, I don't think that this can help to recognise it at boot loader mode (sometimes the reset doesn't work):

Yes, there also exist a way to flash it via recovery...
I never use it, but here my collection:

                Hello,
finally i found the tool that signs correctly all the zips i create
and also the tool that helps to create the zip and the updater script, putting in it all the stuff i want (kernel.img, boot.img, and so on) to make a complete zip to be flashed via recovery menu from SD card, without the need of connection with pc, rkbatchtool, rkandroidtool and so on
                It is an XDA thread:

My device find the zips created with these tools valid, so i can do any update i want
I already tried a simple updater scripts that only prints some informations on the screen with ui_print

Now i have only to learn the sintax of the updater script language, and to build the zip with all parts i need to recover my system...

                Thanks

(img extracted with a tool from the stock whole img)

                signed the zip,
                moved to sd card,
                applied update...
                and...
                Yeeeesss!!

                delete("/tmp/boot.img");

                ... and so on

It could help if I can do it via sd card, however setting up scripts is a bit over my head to be honest, so I need to read through these threads to see if it's idiot friendly, otherwise has anyone built a ready made script including firmware I can just copy onto an sd card if it's as simple as that?!

No such joy for me im afraid! Still no connection via USB and SD CARD is proving to difficult for a novice so looks like I'm going to have to buy a new one!

Have you tried to connect other devices to the computer? I discovered my problem was with the computer when I tried to connect my X2 and got the same error. I tried a new usb cord and ta-da!

Thanks for for the reply but yes I've tried different computers, different leads and still no device recognised! I feel my only option is to flash and reinstall firmware via sd card automatically in recovery mode but not sure if this is possible on this device or easy enough for a novice to do?
