Here's a link to the factory firmware I based this ROM on.

See if it boot's. You will need to use the RKBatchTool to install it.

First try resetting the tablet by pressing the reset button on the back with a paper clip.

To get into flash mode manually, hold the esc button (if there is one) and press power. Or try a different combination of buttons.

Try pressing and holding reset...then just tap the power button with the tablet connected to USB. The batch tool should see the tablet. If not, I'm not sure what else to try.

Technically, by definition of bricking...it isn't bricked, we just have a hangup somewhere in the ROM. I don't have a P8 to test...but I used the same procedure I did with the other P series tablets to cook the ROM...and they've all booted just fine.

There is a way to "unbrick" by opening the tablet and shorting some pins on the NAND chip to get into MASK Mode. This is explained in a thread in the main Pipo forum. The example is on different tablet, but all of these RK tablets use the same process to unbrick.

Also there is info on unbricking on this thread (post #2):

                  http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...G-A-KITKAT-ROM!!!!!

It's kind of like a doctor trying to decide if surgery is warranted, or if something else can be done to fix it. I'm afraid that without a way to get into flash mode manually, you might have to get into Mask Mode, which is obviously more invasive.

                    got rkbatchtoo success.

firstly, connect usb between pc & p8.
then hold reset button around 10s and press once time power button.

just try again rileyrom 1.0, i still got the same problem. i will try again later.

I'm thinking that my parameter files may be the problem. This version has a new partition added...which may have thrown me off. You might try the file parameter file without the number...it is stock. See if the tablet boots. It only has 2gb app space, but its a troubleshooting check for me.

I have a newer firmware update I will start work on tomorrow.

                      Sent from my P9

I have flashed without parameter, it still faults.

The stock rom have bugs, one of them is we can't download APPS from Google Play Store when the file size is less than 50MB. It said "Device don't have enough space".
However, it don't have problem for the apps is larger than 50MB even 1GB.
Do you have idea of th bugs and possible to fix it in upcoming verison?

                          hi,

I lived in Hong Kong so just ordered it from Taobao market and took it 3 days ago.
Um...... the current rom didn't complete, I don't prefer anyone to buy it.
                          I found the probelm.
                          1. google play store isn't working well.
                          2. Wifi n 5Ghz can't work
                          3. Compass sensor not work
                          4. Power Charging problem (% upto 5x or 6x or somthing like that then stop)

I'm working on a new ROM update...maybe this newer firmware solves some of those problems.

I'm retracing my steps on the first ROM to see what I did wrong to prevent it from booting.

Can someone please test this new ROM for me?

This is based on official Pipo firmware dated 9/22/14 #160. Hopefully it fixes some of the things reported as problems in the original factory firmware.

If it works, I will update post #1 to reflect the new version.
