So ... what is it ?!
Hi,
I bought one of the MK809IV (clones?) with red fake antenna on **** for 29GBP inc. shipping.
I'm facing problems with fixing it, after it started freezing and now it's pretty much bricked. I'm not able t find suitable roms and I can't get into flashing mode (only mask rom). I've been able to reset it and then it boots and it shows everything there as I left it (so there's been no loss of data) - however after a few moments I lose video signal (or perhaps entire OS). I am not sure if the prob was caused by overheating or defective components, I only used it for a couple of weeks.
I hope to find a way for people to provide pics and start documenting the variants for this and other cloned devices out there (I.e. seller, cost, bom, pics, tested roms, tips).
I'm starting by documenting mine below.
Variant 1 (neurogoth)
- See attached for my pics
- Case: Black MK809IV case with fake red moving antenna, "HD-02" text printed inside
- PCB: "2013-06-17 CYXTECH_RK3188_909 V1_1" - middle print "091 4"
** I have now seen pics of other dongles with the same exact board printing and COMPLETELY different chips soldered on
- Reset: button installed (TBC if it works)
- SoC: RK3188T ("SCAU33MR 1408") (** Advertised on sale was RK3188)
- RAM: 4x Nanya NT5CB256M8BN-CG => 1GB (** Advertised on sale was 2GB)
- ROM (NAND): 1x Micron 29F64G08CBABA => 8GB
- WiFi/BT: AP6210 ("COE3036 1411")
- HDMI: IT66121FN
- Seller: **** toymodel55 (http://www.****.co.uk/itm/331184033919) <= Avoid, as they only sell fake items
Notes:
- It is almost always sold as RK3188. Opening it up (in my case) shows that it is RK3188T with a "label" on top to cover. Also only 1GB memory, again somehow faked into Android.
- They go all the way to faking/OCing it to 1.6Ghz
- Reset button exist but doesn't seem to work, however I believe it has worked a few times if I manually short the two corresponding solderings on the board. So it might be the buttons or soldering which is lacking.
