No 5.1 CH audio output with XBMC. help.

Been playing with Finless 1.8 over the past few days..

Forgive me if this has been asked before though but I can't get XBMC to output audio to 5.1 channels. I'm just using the XBMC Gotham 13.1 build preinstalled by Finless with the ROM

I have all the correct settings:

    1. Number of channels 5.1
    2. Passthrough enabled.
    3. Dolby Digital enabled.
    4. DTS enabled.

    Is there something I'm missing?

I can get 5.1channels with other builds of XBMC but not with the build preinstalled with the ROM which is a petty because that's the only build which will play 1080p video flawlessly for me.

I have tried to search the forum in case this topic has come up but was not able to find anything. Could someone point me in the right direction?

1080P playback is brilliant. No stuttering or jerkiness. If I can get the audio correct then this would be the perfect ROM/XBMC setup.

Install my boot permissions patch so any XBMC will work. Then install whatever XBMC you want.

            @Finless

One more question Bob. Since flashing your ROM, my device will shutdown randomly. The blue light stays on but the screen goes blank and the audio stops. Don't know if its anything to do with your ROM or the device itself. I read it could be an overheating thing. Any advice?

              no 5.1 audio via optical

Hi am looking for help solving an issue with Audio passthrough via optical.
I Have the m8 square Box, i Have finless 1.8 installed really Happy with it thanks only Problem is no audio through optical.
I Have tried different versions of xbmc plus permissions fix to no avail, hardware seems to be working in everyway.
Also when i enable passthrough in xbmc i get a buzzing noise when playing back video via tv speakers Not sure If this is related turn passthrough off Audio is ok.
Any help would be welcome thanks.

If your TV cannot decode DD/DTS audio, you will only hear "buzzing" when audio passthrough is enabled. This is the expected outcome.

Hmm.. your Panasonic VT50 has Dolby Digital Plus/DTS 2.0 decoder. What exactly is this "buzzing" noise that you are describing? Is it a loud static noise or a real buzz? Also, can you check whether your M8 is connected to HDMI input 2 on your TV.
