    Browser help - Talk 9X

I know the Supersport ROM has a fix in there for Chrome (pretty sure I read that) ....but I am not confident enough yet to try it.

So I am hoping there is something better for my Talk 9x for browsing the web than with the stock Dolphin derivative. Much of the time it seems quite adequate, but then it will hit a stretch where it just sits there and will not finish loading the page.

Or maybe it is not the browser, but something inherent about the MTK chip. Or maybe something I can do to buildprop to help.

Just a minute ago, I tried my best to access Facebook ...no go. But it had no problem with other web sites. At the same time the wife on the main PC had no problem getting onto Facebook.

What gives? I love this tab, and I am confident there will be a fix for this. Just rather it be sooner than later.

Thanks for any and all feedback.

    PS: I am rooted.

I quite like Boat as an alternative.

Thanks. I have just used it a bit now, but it does seem to perform quite well.

Now ...would you equate Chrome with it's fix ...after installing your ROM ...to be superior to Boat?

I used CM Browser. I liked it because oft its simple ui. But sometimes I was linker to some strange webpages. I don't know if it was a fault of the Browser or oft The tablet... (From Google pictures to a strange shop which had nothing tondo with the pic)

Now I'm using chrome. Its faster and connects with my gaccount.

Are you using Chrome on a Talk 9x with a stock ROM?
I thought I had read it did not work well on the stock Talk 9x setup.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I'm using chrome on stock rom (only rooted and with the chrome fix), it works fine.
But the stock browser is the fastest for me.

                  Boat is working well ....still

Boat is working really well, but there are times I wish I had access to flash, and Dolphin is the only one that has it (that I know). The regular version of Dolphin does not work that well.

They have a new beta, ver. 11...but when I try to download it, I am told I already have Dolphin installed. Apparently the stock browser in the 9x is Dolphin based.

My thought is to remove the stock browser entirely, and then I should be open to install the Dolphin 11 beta.

Good plan? Any pitfalls in deleting the stock browser?

                  Thanks.

I'm using Chrome thanks to the fix provided. Have to say I haven't flashed nor rooted the tablet, my skills are far from adequate to face that operation. And I also have access to facebook with no problem whatsoever.
But I also agree that whenever I've got any issues with chrome I always resort to the stock browser. It works pretty fine and also gives me access to facebook.

OK but with Chrome, Flash player doesn't work.

                        Dolphin beta loaded

Finally got the Dolphin Beta to load (after freezing the stock browser in SD Maid).

So far, no go. It will not finish most pages I send to it.

It is a beta, so I have sent a note to the Dolphin team about it's issues. I will leave it loaded for a spell in hopes that Dolphin will be fixed for this tablet.

Yes, that's correct. It's a pity but Flash only happens to work with Dolphin.

Had to unload the Dolphin beta. It was heating up the tab and making too much of a demand on the CPU, plus it was running in the background ...wasting battery.

Not sure yet, but maybe this Boat Browser has flash. I flipped a switch for flash in settings.

                            Time will tell.

For Flash animation I generally use puffin browser (it is necessary the "pro" version to not have limitations...but I think can be found somewhere...).
For flash videos on "tablet" mode it downloads completely the video and play it offline, on "Desktop" mode it plays it on the fly but it is not really smooth.
