    Pipo P9 RileyROM 1.6 [RK3288]

This is a new Android 4.4.2 ROM based on an official Pipo firmware release #192 dated 9/22/14.

This ROM adds the ability to use Toshiba Flash WGJ-TP sd cards.

Warning: This ROM contains a new boot loader (RK3288Loader_uboot_V2.15.02_20140917.bin) which MUST be flashed. If you uncheck the boot loader, your tablet might brick. I haven't tried it to see, but I'm telling you it's best to just flash this new boot loader. I'm not kidding. Save us both some stress and a lot of time by heeding this warning.

    This ROM is:

Rooted...this time with Clockworkmod Superuser (it solved some problems on some other tablets)
    Debloated
English default (but full language support is included)
Google Play Store fixes to allow more compatible apps
    Init.d/Busybox support added
2, 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12gb user app space available by selecting the desired parameter file
    Reboot app by Petrus
Auto Install feature - installs APK files from the external SD (autoinstall folder)
    Multi-user support added
TWRP recovery included in the RileyROM folder (same as the v1.5.1 TWRP...I've tested it)

    Download Wifi Version
    Download 3G Version

    Flashing Instructions

Turn tablet on, and connect the USB to your PC.
Open the AndroidTool.exe with "Run as Administrator"
    Click the "Switch" button
See that the flash tool recognizes the device in "Loader" mode.
Make sure all items are checked on the list of ROM components
Select the desired parameter file by clicking the little box next to the parameter line. The parameter files are in the RileyROM folder. The number indicates the size in GB you will allocate for app space.
    Click "Run"
Wait for the ROM to complete. When it's done, the tablet will reboot to stock recovery and format the partitions. Ignore the first error in recovery and just let it run. When it's finished, your tablet will boot to system.
Let the system boot all the way. Open the app drawer and watch your autoinstall apps (if any) populate to the app drawer.

If you choose to flash the TWRP recovery:

With the flash tool still open, uncheck everything except recovery (yes, it's OK to uncheck the boot loader this time).

Just like you selected the parameter file, click the little box next to recovery and browse the RileyROM folder for TWRP_1.5.1.img and select it.

    Click "Switch"
    Click "Run"

When the flash is finished, your tablet will reboot to the system. Wait for the system to finish loading. Open the app drawer and click the Reboot App. You will need to confirm permission in Superuser.

Select "Reboot to Recovery" on the menu and confirm.

Your tablet will reboot to TWRP Recovery

I hope you enjoy this ROM. Please consider a donation to support future RileyROM development.

Excuse the noob questions, but will installing this rom erase my apps & settings? And do I have to select the 8GB app space again to keep it the same size?

After a week on the stock Rom I finally managed to install drivers and flash riley rom 1.51 yesterday. After another day of messing around I have my apps and settings were I want them.
I hate to start over yet again, but 1.51 is giving me issues; the stock camera apps force closes, I keep getting random androidsystemui has stopped errors and multiwindow doesn't work properly.

If nothing else, can someone please point me to a good guide on how to do a backup and restore with Titanium?

Works great on my P9 (wifi version).
However, I see some extra apps compared to 1.5 that are not neccessary on my wifi version:
          - messages
          - phone
(I don't know if this are the English names as I have Dutch as language on my tablet)

Strange things happen when you remove those two apps. There are dependencies in the Android system that require them...so I've left them in.

Ok, no problem, I just won use those apps.

I got a small problem: my wifi won't go off if I lock my screen, although I have set Wifi > advanced > keep wifi on during sleep --> never. On 1.5, this did work (so wifi would go off)

              Edit:
It seems wifi takes some more time to go to the sleep mode: instead of instantly, it takes some more time (15 minutes?). So, that's no problem.
However, after unlocking my tablet, wifi was not able to work / awake again. I had this 3 times now. So, I think the changes to wifi do not benefit me and I will go back to 1.5.1 (as wifi awakening is quite important to me).

              Edit2:
Before going back to 1.5.1, I also had some battery drain with 1.6. So for me, 1.5.1 is a better option.

                Great Rom, very smooth

                Hi Riley,
Installed this Rom a few days before and it's ging great, expirienced no problems so far.

Only little think is that the app compatibility could be a little Vetter in the market.
Is it possible to spoof it at nexus vor somethink else, to improof compatibility?

But never the less, thanks for the great Rom and your work!

                  Hi Camino,
Do you have battery drain and/or wifi awake problems with this 1.6? Because I faced both problems with this 1.6 version on my wifi-only P9. Which model do you have?

                    Hi,

I am also experiencing the wifi not waking up issue after flashing 1.6. I set the wifi to turn off when putting the tablet in sleep mode to conserve battery. When I press the power button to wake the tablet the wifi does not turn back on automatically as it did before 1.6. It keeps searching for a wifi signal which it never finds. If I toggle the wifi on/off button from off to on it automatically turns off by itself. The only way to turn the wifi back on after sleep is to reboot the tablet.

I have never had to do this before so it seems to be a glitch caused by rom 1.6. Hope it will be fixed in the next rom. Other than that everything else seems to be running fine. I haven't noticed a battery drain but then again I haven't been paying close attention to it.

Cause of the strength batterie i always have the wifi on, with minimal drain in standby, so can't say something about this topic.
Also expirienced no battery drain, also have the wifi only version.
Perhaps flash the 1.5 version, if you want to use the wifi off option

Click on the 'Download' part, instead of Wifi or 3G.

                            Hi,

I have recently updated to Rileyrom 1.6 and it's working great for me, no worries. But I do have 1 question. When I turn my tablet on and try to go into recovery mode I just get a picture of an android laying on its back, a red triangle above with an exclamation mark in and No command written underneath, why is this and is there a way of repairing the issue?

Any help would be much appreciated.

                            Thanks in advance.

You have to install the TWRP recovery image. It's located in the RileyROM folder.

                              1. Open the flash tool and uncheck all ROM components except recovery.img.
                              2. Click the little browse button next to recovery and browse to the TWRP_1.5.1.img in the RileyROM folder and select it as the file you want to flash.
                              3. Plug your tablet to your PC via USB.
                              4. When the flash tool sees your tablet, click switch.
                              5. Click run.
                              6. The flash will be very quick. When it's done, your tablet will reboot to syetem.
                              7. Use the Petrus Reboot app to reboot to recovery.
                              8. Your tablet will boot into TWRP.
