    New Purchaser Questions

Hi all, I just took the plunge and purchased my first Android based TV box to replace my aging and slow Boxee Box. I selected the Minix Neo X8-H due to finding an very decent sale on it and the optional air mouse here in Canada. The device is now in the mail and I should be receiving it in the coming days.

I've got a couple questions that I figured you guys might be able to answer for me:

    1) I see the Finless 1.0 ROM seems to be the popular one to use around here. I noticed this ROM is based on an older beta build. What advantages/disadvantages does this ROM have over the more recent beta builds from Minix?

    2) There seems to be some indications that there will be a new OTA firmware update from Minix soon. Would it make sense as a new user to wait for this update rather than installing Bob's Finless 1.0?

    3) Does any ROM or Firmware support HD quality Netflix, or is this still a DRM issue?

4)Do any of the current official or beta firmware versions support a PS3 controller over Bluetooth or would I need the Finless 1.0 ROM with the proper patches for this?

    5) If I do use Finless 1.0 would I be better off using the Minix XBMC (patched for this ROM) or one of the general AML supported builds (S802 build by Oman)?

6)I've got a 2.4ghz 802.11n network and a gigabit wired network here in the house. Is it true that the wired LAN on the Neo X8-H is only 10/100? Which would you recommend to get the best performance for streaming large mkv content stored on SMB shares?

Thanks in advance for the info guys! Feel free to pass on any other suggestions/tips for a new user. Cheers!

    Hi

1st thing is to check what firmware comes on your unit , then use either finless rom with minix xbmc or stock firmware until beta 9 is released , appartently it improves the unit greatly. netflix hd is still not there due to minix not being a preferred unit ie not roku . The controller I dont know about , wired is 10/100 but I fibd wireless for streaming excellent but other people have had issues but there are many variables with what people have so its a case of just testing it yourself .
I would also amend xbmc video cache using large mkv's to stop buffering but I have those large files , 2.4g wireless to my media server and no issues .
