Polaroid PMID 4311- Should I Take It Back?

I recently bought the Polaroid PMID 4311 in the $65 Big Lots sale. It works fine on doing apps but the wifi doesn't work so well. At home It won't connect to wifi often and usually says out of range. I have a Polaroid PMID 701i and the wifi works just fine on it at home. Yeah, sometimes the wifi goes out on it and I have to reconnect. But I think it maybe that the wifi I am on is not in that close a range maybe. At least the wifi works.

On the Polaroid PMID 4311 the wifi no longer works at home. I tried it out twice, 2 different days at Dennys on their wifi. The first time it did okay. Tonight, it didn't work so great. It got on the wifi but sites seemed to come up slower. I had high hopes for it to be able to use as a really portable tablet to carry in my purse. The one I got was the black one. I am thinking about taking it back. Sad, but if the wifi isn't gonna work here at home and sites come up slower while on public wifi, then I'm thinking I better take it back. No need being out of $65 if it's not gonna do as well as my Polaroid PMID 701i.

Should I take it back or keep it? Any advice appreciated.

I would keep it,a devloper "william klein" is getting ready to release 2 custom roms and maybe it will fix your low wifi signal,if your not comfortable flashing a new rom(rom means, new operating system) these custom roms are way better than stock o.s and you have alot more options to modifying the phone to your liking,i would be willing to help you with doing it,or other ppl on this fourm would be glad to help you also,i would keep it and wait till monday, thats when will is releasing custom o.s flash them if you still dont like how tab is performing then take back and get your $$ back hope this helped you out some!!!

Thanks so much for the info. I wasn't gonna take it back till Tues. So I could try that. Can't figure out why is my PMID 701i connects to the internet here at home, this one doesn't.

new compatibility zips will not be posted now until Wednesday evening at the earliest now, i'm really sorry, i forgot my thumb drive at work Friday, so i built them based on my notes and put them on my sdcard on my tablet, sadly i messed up and formatted my sdcard by mistake so i have to redo them again.

it seems that allwinner development has come to a end for now from the community so with this last set of zips i hope to add support for all the Allwinner: Cyanogen and AOKP based roms i know of. (hopefully some manufacture will release an official jellybean firmware so incomplete proprietary files can be charry picked and maybe interest dev to some more building.

so as of now it looks like on the list for support is.

          Christian Troys: CM9, AOKP, CM10
          Quarx2k CM9, CM10
          Cyanbook V0.4
          Kangbook
          Cyanbook_JB

if you know of any other CM or AOKP allwinner based roms to look at let me know, again sorry for the delay on these compatibility zips.

So sorry you had the problems. We'll wait and see if we can try the rom on it when it comes out and see what happens.

Are the roms for the Polaroid PMID 4311 out yet? Just wondering? The dumb internet on mine is back to not wanting to connect to the one around here. I'll have to try it on public wifi and see how that does.

Could I do the firmware update from Polaroids site on this? Would that fix the wifi problems here at home? Or is the firmware update the same as what is on the tablet and no need to do that? How would I do the firmware update if that is okay to do on this tablet? Sure don't want to brick it.

ETA: I looked up the firmware online and it talks on Polaroids site like there is no need to do a firmware update unless your tablet is locked up. So am I right in assuming no need to update the firmware then?
