    Google Cast Receiver.

    Apparently someone on XDA got the Google Cast Receiver app from the ADT-1 working on other devices. I haven't tried it myself yet, still saving up to replace the box I fried, but if it works it could be useful http://forum.xda-developers.com/hard...droid-t2900726

    Thanks for the info neoman

    i can't manage to make it work with my S89

    i didn't had a lot of time so i didn't test it enough to have sure, maybe i derped the process somewhere

    I grabbed a quick log, the server seemed to start, a bunch of services were inicated nevertheless the app didn't found the "chromecast"

    anyone had any luck making it work with the vega?

      Thanks for the tip. When i get home i try and report in case i find a way

      Basicly you put those 2 files in the same folder of adb and:
      -adb remount && adb push libmedia_shell_content_view.so /system/lib/ && adb shell chmod 0644 /system/lib/libmedia_shell_content_view.so
      -
      adb remount && adb push AndroidMediaShell.apk /system/priv-app/ && adb shell chmod 0644 /system/priv-app/AndroidMediaShell.apk
      -
      adb shell am startservice -n com.google.android.apps.mediashell/.MediaShellCastReceiverService

      It would be nice to do an init.d script
      Sorry for my bad english

        I don't have tome to play with this but if you guys find it works, I can make a update.zip that does all this for you and installs a init.d script.

          I don't think an init script would be necessary, if I'm reading correctly the manual start is only to get it working without a reboot and it should auto start at boot after the first reboot.

          ==EDIT== Oh, and there's been an update. Says it solves the receiver not connecting for everyone issue, but like I said I'm waiting until I replace my box to try it myself.

            Thanks for the heads up on this. I tried the standard apk install on both the S89 and an R89. I couldn't get it to work on either. It seems it installed, but I don't think the service is actually running, even after rebooting. Figuring out how to install and run the other way is too technical for my limited knowledge.

            Would love to be able to cast WatchESPN to my Android boxes.

              I tried it in my S89, and it didn't work, the server app was working but it didn't connect to the Chromecast app in my phone

              I was able to cast youtube but that is only thing I managed to cast

              Anyway I've sent the logcat to the dev, and he said he'll take a look into it

                Can I ask a really dumb question? What is the purpose of having chromecast ability on these Android boxes? I must be missing something.

                  The same purpose as having a Chromecast itself, with the added benefit of running other Android apps directly (similar to how Android TV is) and having composite output which the official device and both known Android TV boxes don't have.

                    For me, it's mostly about WatchESPN. The app on the box works OK, but it doesn't fill the screen and stutters a bit on the R89. It doesn't fill the screen on the S89 either, but at least the video doesn't stutter.

                    I was hoping it would work as a cast receiver and go full screen properly.

                      Is WatchESPN something you pay for? After reading this thread, I figured I would try it on my ADT-1 developer box. It cast YouTube and Netflix just fine, Hulu said "no way". I tried several more apps, but they would not cast. BUT, why cast them when they play right from the boxes. That is what I don't understand. Perhaps if I run into something that will play on a tablet or smart phone, and not on my Android boxes then I will understand.

                        Yes, WatchESPN is tied to a cable subscription. The WatchESPN app on the box itself doesn't fill the screen (gaps on all sides). WatchESPN sent to a Chromecast fills the screen and is HD quality. I'm guessing the Nexus Player will be the answer.

                          Re: Google Cast Receiver.

                          Works great on my mk902. And I was able to cast youtube from my phone and from chrome on my laptop. Thank you for sharing.

                            It works OK. Most times it doesn't work and I have to reboot the box to get the service to reactivate.
