    Polaroid PMID 4311 Locked Up!

I tried to do a factory reset on my Polaroid PMID 4311. It has hung up on a screen that says Android system recovery <3e> and list options like reboot system now etc. I cannot get it to do anything. The paper clip in the pinhole thing to reset does nothing nor does pushing the on/off button. All I know to do is let it be on all night till the battery goes down. Then once the dead battery turns it off, then recharge it and then when it's charged up do the factory reset.

The reason I wanted to do the factory reset was that it would not connect to wifi even tho I pressed the thing to get it to connect to the wifi network. Sigh.

If I can't get to back to normal and wifi working, back to Big Lots it goes on Tues. Can't see keeping something that does not work.
Tablets: Polaroid PMID 701i, PMID 4311, Zeki 10" tablet

Thanks for the info. It was no longer connecting to the internet here at home. I would hit on the connect thing and no go. I was right in figuring that if I let the battery go dead, then I could charge it and do a factory reset. I let the thing die, recharged it, and did a factory reset. And then I reinstalled my stuff. It was a pain having to set up my settings for programs all over again.

Now the wifi is finally working here at home on it. Haven't tried it out and about yet. The wifi does cut out sometimes due to poor connection or out of range error message but it looks like I can reconnect a minute or so later. The wifi seems to go out more when it is in the top to bottom portrait mode. Putting it in the side to side landscape mode seems to make it work better when it does that. But I was pleased I could read newspapers off the newspaper app and play some of my oldies stations on the Tunein Radio aoo.

I am still trying to correct problems or websites not wanting to connect and trying to get the text in the browser bigger. I may keep it another week. But if it's not gonna connect well or do websites well, then I gotta take it back before the 1 month period is up. I got it Sept 11. We'll see. At least it's better off than what it was.

I haven't had any problems with the WiFi either at home or at the local McDonalds (though I'm probably never too far from the router). Actually, I haven't really had any significant problems with my 4311 at all. If yours seems like a continuing problem, maybe you should trade it in for a new one - I suspect the quality control on these things ain't so great. Also... have you tried the firmware update available from southerntelecom? It doesn't seem to have made any difference for me but might for you.

BTW... there is no hole to reset the device (that I can find) - that little hole near the USB connector is the microphone.

Thanks for the info. Dumb old me thought it was a reset button you do a reset with using a pen or paper clip. I usually know about computers but that time I was really dumb lol.

                hate to take it back.
